The Batavia High School sixtieth commencement takes place Friday at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium with thirty seniors in caps and gowns. Ruth Andres delivers an address of welcome, Robert Roberts gives the valedictory on Virtue Will Triumph, and Floyd Stevens leads an American Transition discussion.

75 Airplanes To Be Shown At Music Hall Exposition

Seventy five model airplanes depicting civil and military aviation will be shown at the Miami Valley Industry and Defense Exposition. School-Boy Injured In Gar Bike Collision

Grahm Smith, a seventh grade Batavia Junior High pupil, was severely injured when his gar bike collided with a trailer hitched to an auto driven by Homer Binning near Batavia at Spring and Market streets. He was taken to Children's Hospital after initial care by Dr Mastropaolo. Herbert Sons escaped injury. Smith expected to leave hospital in about ten days.

Harvey Brewer Receives Five Year Deferred Sentence

Judge Bagby in Common Pleas Court imposes a five year deferred sentence on Harvey Brewer for manslaughter in the Verna Newman death on Route 50. Brewer faces five years probation with strict rules and potential imprisonment if violated, plus court cost and vehicle repairs obligations. Separately, Tuesday Simon Shaver was sent to the Ohio Penitentiary for 1 to 25 years after a robbery charge and grand jury indictment. Shaver is noted as a second offender.

Final Plans For County Grange Memorial Service At Batavia

Final plans for the county wide Grange Memorial Services to be held at Batavia school auditorium Sunday evening, June 1, will be made at a committee meeting this evening at the home of the deputy. Chorus rehearsal Monday evening May 26 at the U B church in Batavia. All wishing to enter the chorus must attend this last enrollment meeting. Granges urged to be represented in the chorus.

Memorial Day Plans Set By American Legion

Memorial Day exercises are scheduled in Batavia on Friday May 30 with a parade starting at the Batavia armory at noon led by the Batavia high school band. The procession goes to the cemetery for the Memorial Day address by Rev. Stuhlmueller and includes the American Legion Spanish War Veterans Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Morning services will be held at Stonelick Owensville Old Bantam and Amelia cemeteries with the Legion meeting at the Batavia armory at 9 o'clock.

OES Inspection of Amelia Chapter 338 Held

The Amelia Chapter No 338 OES led by Deputy Grand Matron Lorna Laycock scored Excellent Saturday May 17 with guests including Hugh Nichols Lydia Crawford Mae Poole and others from the 20th District and nearby towns. Annual Visit Of Auxiliary Chairmen To Ohio Soldiers In Xenia

The Child Welfare chairmen of the American Legion Auxiliary Units in the 4th District visited Ohio soldiers and sailors in Xenia on Wednesday May 14. Over 50 chairmen and members toured cottages hospitals chapel school and other buildings. A highlight was the Peter Pan cottage for tiny tots. Lunch with the children followed. Units from Clermont County included New Richmond and Batavia.
