Eastern Star Annual Inspection Held in Batavia
Batavia Chapter conducted its annual inspection on Thursday evening May 20 in the Masonic Hall. Fifty eight members and seven guests from nearby chapters attended the 8 30 ceremony as officers entered formally and the ritualistic work was witnessed. Mrs Mary B Stephen Deputy Grand Marshal commended the officers' exemplary work and praised Mrs Stephen for her address on Eastern Star principles. A social hour followed.

Farmer George Bauer Dies in Tractor Accident Near Newtonsville
George Bauer, 29, a farmer of Cincinnati, died when a tractor he operated near Newtonsville May 18 rared up and overturned, breaking his neck and crushing his shoulder and chest. He left a father, mother, four sisters and three brothers. Coroner Sam White ruled the death accidental.

The Clermont County Bar Association met in the Probate office Friday night with State Senator Harold D. Nichols presiding. Officers elected include President Forrest B. Ely Vice President H. C. Preacher Holds Own Funeral in Lynx Residence
Rev. Elisha Hayslip, 87, longtime Adams County pastor of the Christian Union faith, conducted his own funeral at his Lynx home after reading his obituary and delivering a brief sermon. He had preached his own funeral for years and died from complications, with relatives honoring his request for no sermon at the Liberty Church service.
