Decoration Day Services Planned by Frank W. Weaver Post

Memorial Day services sponsored by Frank W. Weaver Post No. 287 and Legion Auxiliaries are scheduled for Sunday May 80. The program lists services at Old Bethel Amelia Mt Moriah Olive Branch Batavia and Batavia parade at 11 30 with Band and Forestville Drum Corps. Gerald P. Rockwell Batavia High School teacher will be speaker.

Eastern Star Annual Inspection Held in Batavia

Batavia Chapter conducted its annual inspection on Thursday evening May 20 in the Masonic Hall. Fifty eight members and seven guests from nearby chapters attended the 8 30 ceremony as officers entered formally and the ritualistic work was witnessed. Mrs Mary B Stephen Deputy Grand Marshal commended the officers' exemplary work and praised Mrs Stephen for her address on Eastern Star principles. A social hour followed.

Re-elect Offcers at Wilmington District Meeting

The Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Wilmington District Ohio held its annual meeting at Batavia United Brethren church. The session ran from 10 am to 8 15 pm with 225 in attendance and lunch provided by the Ladies Aid. Officers were re elected for another year and the next gathering will be at Washington D B.

Farmer George Bauer Dies in Tractor Accident Near Newtonsville

George Bauer, 29, a farmer of Cincinnati, died when a tractor he operated near Newtonsville May 18 rared up and overturned, breaking his neck and crushing his shoulder and chest. He left a father, mother, four sisters and three brothers. Coroner Sam White ruled the death accidental.

Clermont County Bar Association Elects Officers and Proposes Hours

The Clermont County Bar Association met in the Probate office Friday night with State Senator Harold D. Nichols presiding. Officers elected include President Forrest B. Ely Vice President H. C. Nichols Secretary Treasurer Judge O. W. Halbiach and Executive Committee G. D. Murphy Henry Lindsey and E. O. Ely. The association also called for keeping the courthouse open from 8:30 am to 4 pm on weekdays.

Senior Dance at Batavia High School Auditorium

The Senior Dance will be held at Batavia High School auditorium on May 28. Gene Burchell and his Netherland Plaza Orchestra provide the music at $1.60 per couple from 10 to 1.

Car Collision Near Milford Injures Several

Sunday 2:30 am a two car crash near Milford involved Ad die Lewis Dale Miller Bud Neuman wife Vincent Garner Martin McAfee and Geo Wallace driver of a Oakley car license 730 CJ. Mrs Dale Miller fractured jaw and knocked out teeth taken to Bethesda hospital. Mrs Addie Lewis unconscious. Dale Miller cut and thrown through windshield. Bud Neuman and wife shaken with no broken bones. McAfee’s front wheel and fender torn off. Wallace hospitalized awaiting developments.

Kirk to Speak at Grange Memorial Program

Walter Kirk of the Ohio State Grange will speak at the Grange Memorial program in the Batavia school auditorium Sunday June 6 at 2 PM local officials say. The annual event started last year and aims to attract county residents with an outstanding program.

Field Track Meet at Amelia School Grounds

Sixth to eighth graders gathered for a Field and Track Meet at the Amelia school grounds last Saturday. Amelia won first place pennant, Mt. Carmel second, Pierce Consolidated third, with Franklin Glen Este Lindale Owensville Nicholsville Branch Hill and Point Isabel among the represented schools. Individual ribbons were awarded for first second and third places. the annual event is sponsored by Stanley Anstaett of the Amelia school.

The Mt Pisgah Cemetery Association holds memorial services on Sunday May 80 at 2:30 PM at Mt Pisgah Baptist Church. Judson McKim, executive secretary of the Hamilton County YMCA, will deliver the address.

The Amelia W C T U met Thursday afternoon in the Sunday schoolroom with 14 members and 11 visitors including 6 children. County president Mrs Schoeffler gave an interesting talk and a lunch of homemade cookies and milk was served. Children were the guests of honor.

4-H members and six mothers gathered at the home of Helen Hall with Mrs. Jackson for a health discussion and a doctor’s examination for each member. Edith Hines led the meeting, plans for projects discussed, next meeting set for May 20 at Helen Hines Betty Jane Hines.

Milford High School Commencement Exercises Set

Milford High School will hold commencement on June 1 in the school auditorium. Dr. William Beachler of New Lebanon will deliver the class address. Awards will be presented by H. M. Burkholder and J. W. MacDonald, with diplomas from Samuel Bateman, president of the Milford Board of Education. The baccalaureate sermon is May 30 by Rev. Eugene Biffle. A $25 English award will be given by the Parent-Teacher Association for the top English average.

Red Cross Office Closes for Memorial Day Weekend

The Clermont County Red Cross Disaster Relief office in the Buchanan Building New Richmond will close at noon on Saturday May 29 and reopen Tuesday June 1 for Memorial Day observances. Preacher Holds Own Funeral in Lynx Residence

Rev. Elisha Hayslip, 87, longtime Adams County pastor of the Christian Union faith, conducted his own funeral at his Lynx home after reading his obituary and delivering a brief sermon. He had preached his own funeral for years and died from complications, with relatives honoring his request for no sermon at the Liberty Church service.
