Batavia High School plans a May 28 senior dance in the new auditorium after the commencement program from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Jene Burchell and his Netherland Plaza swing unit will provide music. The eleven member orchestra, renowned flutist Burchell, has played in New York Chicago Indianapolis and Louisville and will appear with a singer. The event will feature dramatic lighting to recreate a ballroom atmosphere and is expected to draw a large crowd of Clermont County music lovers.

Mrs James Patchell health chairman announces Batavia PTA to hold the annual summer round up examinations for children entering school in the fall. Examinations by local doctors and dentists will be at the school building on Thursday May 27 at 1 80. Parents urged to act. Robert Howe Kernohan of Hamilton has earned a graduate residence scholarship in physics from Columbia University for 1987 88, supporting study for a Master of Arts degree. A 1985 Oberlin graduate, he has taught physics and geology at Deerfield Academy. The awards total over $150,000. He is nephew to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kernohan of Batavia.

Two Boys Injured Testing Motorcycle Near Batavia
Harold Haag of Batavia and James Duncan of Afton were testing a new motorcycle on Route 74 near Glen Este when it turned and threw them into a ditch. Haag broke a leg and Duncan broke a foot. They were taken to Bethesda Hospital after aid from Dr. Ashburn.

Johnson of Norwood surrendered 30 slot machines after a raid and pleaded not guilty in common pleas court. He was fined a total of 1800 dollars with refunds on four machines and jail time suspended.
