Commissioners Action on Contracts and a Short-term Loan
The county commissioners met May 17 and awarded several concrete work contracts including Day brothers for Cedron and Hogan for Wayne. Louis I Craver Dies After Illness at County Infirmary
Louis I Craver, superintendent of the county infirmary, died Monday morning from diabetes after a ten day confinement. He was popular with many friends. A widow and three sons survive. Funeral from the home Wednesday at 8:30 then from the Catholic church in Owensville at 9. Burial will follow. The county loses a good and useful citizen.

Fiftieth Anniversary of William Perkins and Elizabeth Waterfield
On May 21 1865 William Perkins and Elizabeth Waterfield were married in Chile Ohio by Rev Wm McCue. Last Friday they celebrated at their Mt Carmel area home with many guests from far and near bringing gifts of gold silver cut glass and linen. Their four daughters Bertha Brown Julia Johnson Ruth Nash and Lillian Sechrist assisted in receiving guests and serving a two course luncheon.

Initiation of 41 Members at Mt Pisgah Lodge Event
Modern Woodmen of America members from Mt Pisgah near Amelia and New Richmond crowded the lodge for a 41 member initiation. Centerville Camp No 4066 Lees Creek provided the visiting team, with A C Morrow as district organizer arranging the work. A large feast followed in the school building, served by local ladies, with ice cream and cake. Visitors came from across the county and the night left a lasting impression.

Batavia Teachers Reemployed for Next Year at Set Salaries
The Batavia schools announced reemployment last week for the coming year. Salaries include Prof Blair at 1200 per year, Prof Lee 75 per month, Miss Stoltz 75, Miss Long 50, Miss Townsley 63.77, Misses Johnson Horn and Barlow 45 each. Alex Ferguson was reemployed as janitor at 80 per month.

Heavy Rain Blesses Ohio Lands and Crops
A section of Ohio saw very heavy rain in the latter part of last week benefiting crops. The rain promises one of the largest alfalfa crops on record and enhances other yields. Edenton Votes for School Centralization and Bond
Edenton and surrounding territory voters approved centralization of schools and a bond issue for a new Edenton school building. The tally favored centralization 11 to 1 and bond issue 10 to 1. Construction will start soon but completion before September is unlikely.

The Clermont County Society met May 17 at Moose Hall in Norwood with Clermonters from Norwood and Hamilton County reuniting.
