The Batavia school exhibit in the school building last Friday drew about 800 attendees. The event closed with a grand stand program in the yard and high school orchestra, noting strong faculty performance and band advancement.

The Batavia high school class of 1916 heard a strong baccalaureate sermon Sunday night at the town hall by Rev. Wegner with Rev. Martin in charge. Music included four songs by Clem DeBruin and Miss Bess Walker, plus performances by the Batavia High School Orchestra. The hall featured locust blossoms snow balls and ferns. exercises opened with the class led by Pross Blair Lee and Miss Stoltz. Commencement exercises are slated for Friday night at the town hall.

City official praises Dennison garden in Batavia tour

He praised the garden as the best in the state with no unhealthy plants and noted Dennison's practical know how and effort. The governor answered questions about Pattison's identity and role, while Pattison expressed pleasure in reviewing the garden. Dyspepsia is described as America’s curse with a proposed remedy hinted in a garbled line about digestion and weight.

Ten Per Cent Dividend for First National Bank Depositors
The First National Bank of New Richmond receiver gains comptroller approval to pay a ten percent dividend to depositors this week. Fight Lost By Home Telephone to Compel Connect
William A. Shafer of Middletown three miles from Hamilton lost his bid to force the Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Co to connect with the Hamilton Home Telephone Co so patrons could obtain long distance service to Cincinnati. The Ohio supreme court on May 16 denied his reversal of lower court and Public Utilities Commission rulings and the case may go to the United States supreme court.

The Batavia Woman's Club hosted a May 20 gathering at Mrs. P. F. Jamieson’s home with a varied program. Donald Jamieson performed Schubert and provided piano accompaniment. Mrs. J. P. Sophomores Fall as Remainder Win 11-5 at Ball Park
Friday at the ball park the sophomores and grades were defeated by the rest of the high school 11 to 5. Jamieson Shaw and Anstead pitched for the sophomores with Mosbacker and Weaver opposing. Jamieson, though removed from the mound, collected two eight-base hits and a two-base hit. Numerous wild throws limited excitement. Mr. Lee earned praise for his excellent umpiring.

Judgment awarded in horse express wreck case
One year after a July wind swept Terrace Park wreck on the Pennsylvania road, a train carrying race horses killed or maimed the entire outfit. The owner sued Adams Express Co. in U S district court and was awarded 40 000 against a 50 000 claim. The suit goes to a higher court.
