Clermont County Woman Clubs Plan Federation at Williamsburg Church

The 84th Annual Clermont County Federation of Women’s Clubs meeting will be held Thursday June 7 at Williamsburg M E Church with the Vesta Club as hostess. Morning and afternoon sessions include reports, address by Mrs E Nelson, and a program of vocal solos and readings featuring local clubs and officers.

Brown for Governor Club Formed in Clermont County

Clermont county organizes the first Brown for Governor Club with several hundred members. Bruce Daughters of Felicity becomes president with Frank Willis of New Richmond as vice president Carrol Altman of Felicity as secretary and John Swing of Bethel as treasurer.

Veterans to Discuss County Affairs at Batavia Legion Meeting

Clermont County Veterans Association will hold a special meeting in the Legion room at Batavia Armory on Monday May 28 at 8 p.m. The committee on Constitution and By-Laws will report. Veterans and ex-service men will hear about county wide issues and local political matters.

Pensions Set to Begin May 28 with August Payments

Dowdney announces Old Age Pension blanks will be ready May 28 and no pensions will be paid until August 1. Applications must be picked up in person or prepared at Batavia main office. proof of age and citizenship required, and eligibility hinges on age 65, need, and low net property value.

Four More Appointments Approved by County Board

Clermont County commissioners approve four new relief administrators and reappoint three existing staff by a 2 to 1 vote. New appointees include Orpha Wood Joe Barngrover Marjorie Cleaver and Frances Bishop. Re-appointments are Earl Shaw Harriett Dennison and Helen Ferree, with ties to CWA and FERA requirements. Forty club CCC enrollees join Camp Knox from Clermont

Thirty nine Clermont County youths left for Camp Knox after a local pick up by Fred Croswell. They passed physical exams and were slated for assignment to various CCC camps, with many from Bethel Batavia Moscow and surrounding towns among the accepted list.

Republican meeting in Ripley at the High School Auditorium drew about 400 people with John S. Martin as chairman and Charles Howard as toastmaster. Gus Karger spoke for congressman at large, Simeon D. Fess was endorsed for re election to the Senate, and Ed Shore plus Catherine Kennedy Brown addressed the crowd on topics of the day. James Beard urged voters to redeem the Sixth District and elect a Republican to Congress.

Two Die After Auto Crash on A and P Highway

A crash on the A and P highway below New Richmond near Ten Mile left four Cincinnati youths involved. T J Geisler died at Meade Hospital after a 2 30 p m arrival. Thomas Heekin died Sunday night from a fractured skull and chest injuries. Catherine Heilemann suffered a broken arm and leg and was improving at Meade. The second girl escaped uninjured and left with a motorist whose identity is unknown amid mystery surrounding the group.

Memorial Day Plans in Batavia and Nearby Communities

Memorial Day observances announced across Batavia and nearby towns. Grand marshal Kenneth Hillen leads parade plans with Comrade Brice Hendrixson in publicity and Comrade Edward Jung arranging uniforms. Services scheduled at Owensville, Old Bethel, Amelia cemeteries, Mt. Morieh, and Batavia cemetery with Legion, Boy Scouts, and officials coordinating. Speaking arrangements include Martin V. Bethel Special to Honor Burke Park Donor on Decoration Day

Glenn Burke of New York City, donor of Burke Park in Bethel, will attend a 5 o'clock basket dinner on Decoration Day in Burke Park. Local residents and Tate township people will join in honoring him with a program directed by Ralph Homan of the First National Bank. Porter Beck will also be present. Fish For All Distribution Aims At Ohio Waterways

The Division of Conservation plans spring fish distributions totaling 260 000 breeder fish from Lake Erie Lake Rockwell and Barberton to streams for a mile above and quarter mile below planting sites. Clermont county May 1 Williamsburg East Fork received 20 smallmouth bass 65 rock bass 260 catfish. Car accident crushes leg of local man near Amelia

David Gilbert and Tom Sheldon of Jenny Linn Amelia were adjusting a car clutch when the vehicle backed and crushed Gilberts leg between the chamber and a tree. He was taken to Mead's hospital New Richwood. Amputation may be necessary. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon.
