Highwaymen from Cincinnati target Georgetown farmer in fatal shooting
Three Cincinnati men Chas Cramer 81, Charles Johnson 33 and John Zeller 24 plus Fred Davis 26 were linked to a Tuesday night attempted robbery and the fatal shooting of Robert Clemons a Brown County farmer. Clemons died Friday after suffering three gunshot wounds. Police later captured the suspects in Cincinnati and Georgetown held them for a grand jury.

The Batavia schools closed Friday after Thursday night commencement attended by a large rural and town crowd. 25 graduates led by salutatorian Patricia Wilke due to Norma Johns’ illness. The program featured Sousa marches, vocal selections, class address Upward Steps, and diploma presentations. A commencement dance followed at the armory.

Warren Miller and O'Neal Sprague of Williamsburg faced Sheriff Roberts and Deputy Meinken after resisting an officer and attempting to disarm the Williamsburg marshal. Sheriff Roberts and deputies A. E. Meinken and Joe Colonel from New Richmond arrested Pearl Swearinger of Ripley after watching him near Moscow for possession of liquor. He was jailed and given a hearing before Judge White, with a $100 fine and costs to be paid.

Victim Dies After Botched Robbery Near Mt Crab
Robert Clemons a 69 year old farmer of near Mt Crab died Friday in Bethesda Hospital Cincinnati from wounds inflicted the prior Tuesday night. Four men implicated in the assault Chas Cramer 31 Hamilton Fred Davis John Zeller and Chas Johnston Cincinnati were arrested after Clemons shot one attacker during the ambush and a special grand jury convened. Prosecutor Houston Brown County plans indictments for first degree murder as the four await trial in Georgetown jail without bail.
