Locust Corner residents wakeful as four converts renounce the Devil and new dress norms, joining a planned plain church with a woman pledging 600 dollars for boards. Two men and two women were baptized before about 2000 onlookers as controversy over old and new church forms grows.
The 75-year-old maker of hay riggings from Pisgah in Warren County was found dead Friday morning beside the Lebanon turnpike after leaving home Thursday to go to Mason. An 8 am sighting by a schoolboy showed Smith lying in a wagon with a horse nearby. coroner notified. Likely heart disease. he was a widower with substantial Warren County property. His daughter Mrs Stone is seeking a divorce.
Taylor Halderfield aged 42 died Saturday in Mt. Moriah area after long battle with alcohol. Native of New Richmond he was a skilled dentist until liquor overwhelmed his will. He leaves a estranged wife and two children. Buried Sunday amid many mourners.
Invitations issued for the marriage of Dr. Frank P. Hamilton and Miss Lomeda Brown. Ceremony set for 2:30 PM June 3 at the bride's Wood Street residence. Both born and raised in Batavia, with Hamilton owning the Batavia hotel in Clermont county and practicing dentistry in Cincinnati. After a brief wedding tour, the couple will reside in Cincinnati.
The Clermont County Sunday School Union holds its thirteenth annual convention May 28–29 at Bethel Baptist Church. programs include devotions, papers on primary methods and Bible study, music, reports, and an evening lecture on moral courage. officers listed for 1995–96 and notes on available song books and piano provision.
At Miami University last week Lon Bunn won first in the 120 yard hurdle event clearing ten hurdles at 8% feet high. In the 100 yard dash he took second, while Fee of New Richmond won first.
The Miami Valley Medical Society held its thirty seventh annual meeting at Loveland on Tuesday. Dr J A Thompson of Cincinnati presided with Dr Don Gatch of Milford as secretary. Papers on cataract cases and acute purulent otitis media were presented and discussed. New officers and committee members were elected. The next meeting will be held in Loveland in October.
Rev Robert Ely of this place cultivates many strawberry varieties and records growth, budding, flowering and fruiting times. This year his berries were ripe May 10 and he plans a July 4 harvest, with his garden open for visitors who will find the results impressive.
Milford high school held commencement exercises at the town hall Friday night with music by a Cincinnati orchestra. The program included salutatory, oration on government, debates on mental capacity, various solos and essays, and the presentation of diplomas.
Henry N. Carey, Times managing editor, denies a Columbus dispatch report that a syndicate bought the New York Times and Recorder and that Joseph P. Smith would edit both papers.

Mary Jones, a widow employed in Batavia homes as an assistant noted for her economic skill, suffered a violent nosebleed last week. Doctors Davis Ashburn and Van Horn treated the hemorrhage, which was caused by overexertion, and she has since recovered strength.
The New Richmond baseball club defeated the Cochrans of Fort Thomas in two games at New Richmond Park last Saturday. Ed Slade pitched superbly while Bob Zugg starred with the bat in the morning victory by 18 to 1. afternoon score was 7 to 2. Fort Thomas soldiers were escorted in uniform with 60 men a fine display.
