Courier Correspondents Dine At Coney Island Club House

The Clemont Courier hosted a dinner for local correspondents at the Coney Island Club house on Sunday afternoon. About twenty two of roughly thirty regional reps attended, with a fireworks finale marking the event.

Oil Stove Explosion Destroys Afton Area Home

The four room home of Mr and Mrs William Malott Route 74 near Afton was totally burned last Thursday after an oil cooking stove exploded. Batavia Fire Chief Laffleur faced water supply issues from a cistern beside the house as hoses failed. Mrs Malott poured water on the blaze after the blast which accelerated the fire.

Clermont County VFW Post 3954 designates May 21 as Buddy Poppy Sale Day with headquarters in the Clermont Courier office. Sword Taken To Lima Hospital

Jarrett Sword, sentenced last Friday by Judge Harry Britton in Clermont County Common Pleas Court to one to twenty years for rape, has been taken to the State Hospital at Lima. Sheriff Clyde Dericks escorted the prisoner after an initial admission refusal at the penitentiary.

Batavia Woman Injured in Route 74 Collision

Mrs Marian Burke of Batavia was injured Friday when the car she rode in collided with a vehicle driven by Charles H Rigins of Cincinnati on Route 74 in Summerside. She was taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont for X rays by Dr F S Skeen of Batavia who responded to the wreck.
