Oil Stove Explosion Destroys Afton Area Home
The four room home of Mr and Mrs William Malott Route 74 near Afton was totally burned last Thursday after an oil cooking stove exploded. Batavia Fire Chief Laffleur faced water supply issues from a cistern beside the house as hoses failed. Mrs Malott poured water on the blaze after the blast which accelerated the fire.

Batavia Woman Injured in Route 74 Collision
Mrs Marian Burke of Batavia was injured Friday when the car she rode in collided with a vehicle driven by Charles H Rigins of Cincinnati on Route 74 in Summerside. She was taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont for X rays by Dr F S Skeen of Batavia who responded to the wreck.
