First Body Arrives for Burial in Goshen
Lou Griffith of Goshen, who died serving overseas in World War I, was buried in Goshen with military honors last Sunday. He was the county’s first WWI remain sent home by the government for reburial after an initial burial in France. The iron casket arrived without viewings, and the funeral drew a large crowd of former soldiers. The government provides home burial at no expense to relatives, though many wish his remains remain undisturbed where they now lie.

Franklin township consolidates schools and selects new county superintendent
Batavia officials in special session approve the consolidation of Franklin township with Felicity village schools and elect H. A. Kellum, Owensville, as director. Bids lead to B. T. Davis of Bethel named county superintendent for one year at 2700 dollars with 300 dollars expenses. Miss Carrie Moore to continue as clerk at 15 dollars weekly.
