Private First Class Earl McCord of Batavia Ohio was wounded twice in action during North Africa and Italy. He served with the Field Artillery, landed at Oran, fought through Tunisia and Mount Lungo, and is retired to the United States under troop rotation. He trained at Fort Knox and will spend furloughs with his parents Mr and Mrs Ollie McCord in Williamsville.

Jack W. Woodward of Cozaddale Ohio rose from staff sergeant to technical sergeant at an eighth Army Air Forces bomber station in England. An engineer and top turret gunner aboard a Fortress under Colonel William B. Davis, he is the son of Mr and Mrs Willard O Woodward. Woodward worked in general aircraft assembly at North American Aviation in Inglewood before enlisting February 2, 1943.

Students urged to Get Social Security Cards
Boys and girls who take jobs in war plants should get a social security card to take with them, said Edwin Baum, manager of the social Security Board office in Cincinnati, Ohio. War plants require every worker to have a social security card before he is put on the pay roll. Every employer on jobs covered by the law must have a record of the name and social security number of all-persons on his pay roll, weather they work full time or part time. Application blanks for securing cards may be obtained at any post office if there is not a Soalic Security Board field office in the town where the worker lives.

Oldest Felicity Resident Eva Frambes Dies at 87
Eva Frambes, 87, longtime Felicity resident, died Monday. Daughter of Joseph and Mrs Frambes, she helped run early community enterprises from a home she never left. The Frambes family ran the first grist mill and one of Felicity’s first business houses and transportation lines. Her relatives include Oliver Frambes of the University and Lt Col Granville A Frambes of the Fifty-month Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
