Dennis W. Luithle a Glen Este High School sophomore won the Clermont County flag design contest. The winning design will be announced at 8 p.m. Friday during a Historical Society meeting at Batavia High School. The event includes a Civil War drum concert by the Lyle Faulkner Fife and Drum Corps and performances by Batavia PTA Mothersingers and Batavia Girl Scout Troop 1486. Dennis is the son of Charles and (name unreadable) Laithle of Glen Este Williamsville Road. He also shows woodworking talent with items like a lamp and a coffee table.

GLEN ESTE The Union Township trustees will hire a court stenographer for the May 19 public hearing on incorporation at Mt Carmel Glen Este Elementary School. Emc Durbin vice of the board will chair the hearing with Thomas Clepper and Peter Heckter also present. The hearing will verify that a petition and map of the proposed incorporation area covering all of Union Township and part of Pierce Township is correct. The trustees report township expenditures of 2126 with amounts in Cemetery fund 554 road fund 447 gas fund 130 and general fund 994.

The Clermont County Commissioners will accept bids until 10 am June 1 for metal pipe and other road materials and for a county highway department dump truck. They will also name a representative to the Southwestern Ohio and Northern Kentucky Air Pollution Survey technical committee continuing from March 30 for a year. Batavia council deadlocked three to three on a plan by County Engineer Carl H Rush to fix a water problem on Charles St with tile and catch basins at an estimated 450.
