CGGE Clears Air On City Proposal Beckford Annexation Plea

William H. Zimmer of The Cincinnati Gas and Electric Co. said the firm has not taken any position on plans to incorporate or annex areas around Beckford Station in Clermont County. He noted the company is studying the major taxpayer issue and will pay its fair share of taxes, stressing Beckford’s name does not imply company approval. A hearing is set for June 30 by the county committee.

Skyhill Auctioned To Cincinnatian For 67000

Skyhill Airport and Recreation Club at Chapel Rd was sold at public auction Saturday to Peter Topiez of Cincinnati for 67000. Topiez bid 59600 as the low on the three parcels, offered as a single unit, outbidding two rivals. Auctioneer was Joel T. Wilson of Milford. Topiez plans to develop the park including the Olympic size swimming pool. The family stays with Ralph Brown in Withamsville.

Hanson Defends Blumenthal Appointment in Clermont County

The Clermont County War on Poverty director role for Jack Blumenthal is defended amid complaints of outside intrusion by the Cincinnati area Community Action Commission. Fire consumes home. family aided by relatives in Withamsville

Fire damaged a residence with estimated loss of 4000 dollars as occupants tried to fight the blaze with a garden hose and ran a quarter mile to raise an alarm. Fire insurance had lapsed recently. The family is staying with Mrs. Boles' relatives in Withamsville, including Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Brown and Ralph Brown.

Three Reappointed To Clermont County Planning Commission

Three members were reap pointed to three year terms on the Clermont County Planning Commission Friday by the county commissioners. Those reappointed are Attorney John S. Moore Batavia secretary Peter Heckter of Williamsville former vice chairman and a Union Township trustee and Ed Miller of New Richmond also a former commission vice chairman and a charter member. The commissioners will view Honey Hill Se in Union township at 9 a.m. May 18 and hold a hearing at 10:30 a.m. The commissioners will view McMurchy Ave in Tate township at 9 a.m. and hold a hearing at 10:30 a.m. May 20.

Amelia Council Delays Annexation Study Recommendation

Amelia Council votes to hold a special May 10 meeting to decide whether to authorize a study to annex surrounding land. The proposal would expand the village from its current size to about 10 square miles, with potential tax valuation growth from 1.713 million to about 5 million.

Bids Sought On Two Ohio Highway Improvements

Sealed bids due 10 a.m. May 25 to the Ohio director of highways in Columbus for two Clermont County road projects offered as one contract. Proposal one covers a bituminous surface on 4.10 miles of Rt 48 Goshen and Miami townships with variable width. Proposal two covers 3.12 miles of Ohio 727 Stonelick and Wayne townships with a 17 foot width.

Lineman Killed In Power Mishap Near Loveland

Larry Schweinerus, 38, of Covington Kentucky, died after contacting a 132000 volt line at Tower 100 near Loveland Road while removing a ground on a hot line. He joined CG&E in 1957 and is survived by his wife Dorothy. Clermont County officials investigated the Tuesday accident. he died en route to Good Samaritan Hospital Cincinnati.
