Batavia enforces a new parking ordinance with 30 minute limits on Market Street blocks from Main to the post office, one hour near intersections, and eight hour limits on Main Street from 6 am to 6 pm. 18 hour general limit. Violations may incur fines from 2 to 10 dollars plus costs.
After June 10 Blue Cross Hospital Care enrollees will receive statements at home mailed by the Hospital Care office. Batavia residents will still pay to First National Bank of Batavia. Enrollment applications are being accepted. Judge Orville Halbisch and a Boy Scout leader authorize literature distribution explaining the plan. Change of address should be given to Batavia Bank.
Goshen Junior High girls sextette earned an excellent plus rating at the Southwest District Junior High Music Contest in Hamilton Ohio on May 1. Under Miss Christine Williams the group performed with sopranos Betty Steele Betty Berg Jewel Wilder Naomi Ashcraft and altos Velma Wallace Jane Wirsch.
Clermont County National Guard unit seeks enlistment as the House Armed Services Committee approves a two year general draft for men age 19 to 25 with 18 to 30 registration. Exemption exists for those serving in the National Guard at enactment. Capt Massey urges immediate action at Batavia Armory Mondays 7 30 to 9 30 p m due to looming law passage.
The Mt Carmel Grange observed Rural Life Sunday at Summerside Methodist Church on May 9. An exchange program will be presented for the Miami Grange on June 9.

Mrs William Dumford of Newtonsville suffered chest and scalp injuries in a Sunday evening collision on State Routes 131 and 133 east of Newtonsville. Her husband and daughter were unhurt. She was taken by Monroe ambulance to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.
Clermont County will move a 40 by 96 by 12 foot steel building from Deer Park to the fairground in Owensville. The W I Trucking Co will haul it for the County Commissioners. The building will serve Fair Board needs during Fair Week and house county equipment the rest of the year.
The Lytle Hay and Grain Company plans a Saturday opening on May 15 at Route 74 to install four new feed mill units. Paul Lytle, owner, brings 15 years in hay and grain business, sourcing from northern Ohio for Clermont County wholesale sales. The plant features modern machinery designed for efficient service. Attendance by key figures is expected.
