Three Countians At GOP Meeting

Guy E. Holmes, chairman of the Republican Executive Committee, along with Mrs Holmes and Mrs Florence Simmons county committeewoman, attended the Sixth District Chairmen and Chairwomen Meeting in Washington Court House on Friday evening. Eight counties represented. Joseph Clark of Chillicothe presided. Discussions covered 1936 candidates including GOP delegates to the National Convention and Sixth District committeeman and committeewoman. Fire caused about $2500 damage to Henry Lung home on Elklick Road. siren auto sounded with temperature rise saving a baby. Williamsburg and Batavia Fire Departments responded. fire blamed on a defective flue.

Amelia Day proposed as Clermont County first at Coney Island

Amelia Business Men's Association plans Amelia Day at Coney Island Amusement Park with 30 percent ride cuts and five cent admission. Charter buses from Amelia depart 11:00 a.m. return by 7:30 p.m. A May 16 meeting at BMOP Fire Department in Hamlet will form a committee as Frank Walters urges business men to attend.

Bethel Man Appointed to Clermont County Library Board

Carl Meier of Bethel was appointed to the Clermont County Library by Common Pleas Judge Harry Britton this week. One more appointment remains to be made by the Clermont County commissioners.

Clyde Dericks announced that Carroll Gregg of Franklin township was appointed deputy sheriff of Clermont County effective May 1. Gregg is no longer serving as deputy sheriff.

Groups Urge 4 Lane Route for Route 125 Project

The Improvement Committee for Route 125 asks area groups to approve formal resolutions backing a four lane highway from the Hamilton County line to Amelia. Over 25 groups support pressing the state to switch from a two lane plan to a four lane right of way. Resolutions due May 15 will be presented to Governor Lausche and state officials. Don Ison of Williamsville chairs the committee.

Meeting Called To Form Softball Loop

Milford residents Frank Roberts Lucian Baralt and Ray Riehle form a Clermont County Our Lady of Mercy Hospital festival committee to raise funds for hospital operations. Man charged with murder after fatal outdoor shooting

Theodore Springfield, 48, of Jasper Alabama, is charged with first degree murder for killing his brother Kermit Springfield after a hunting trip near Milford. The shooting occurred about 630 pm on Dry Run Road after an argument aboard a car. Theodore says the shot was not intentional. Kermit died of a 22 rifle bullet to the head.
