Coroner and Wife Face Federal Narcotics Charge
Clermont County coroner Dr. F S Skeen and his wife Helen are charged with issuing or dispensing illegal narcotics prescriptions. Each is bonded at $1000. A hearing was scheduled before Batavia mayor J F Paschal after a federal indictment superseded a state warrant for obtaining narcotics by deceit.

The Batavia high school vocal department presents an 8 pm concert Friday May 6 in the elementary school auditorium. The program features sacred and secular songs by the 35 member concert choir and 70 member high school chorus under Clair Kissel with Mary Ruth Kramer and Suzanne Gregg as accompanists. Gregg plays piano in Mendelssohn concerto moves. Kissel plays second piano and both will perform Malaguena.

Col Cecil Himes of Batavia received the Legion of Merit for exceptional services in Korea during ceremonies at Fort MacArthur California. The award was presented by Col John H McAleer deputy post commander. Himes is unit advisor to the 40th Armored Division and a 1937 West Point graduate. He lives in Redondo Beach California with his family.
