Wonderland Park Set For Opening This Spring

Wonderland Park near Owensville prepared to open May 19 at 1 p.m. Located on State Rt. 276 near US 50, it claims the state’s largest private zoo and offers rides for all ages including a ferris wheel and kiddie train. A golf driving range opens June 1 with daily hours 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. weekends. Coupon money rides available for Courier Day on May 13 at the Courier office. Sheriff reports arrests in Mt Repose connected to a break in at Boyd's service station.

Two Firms Create 4 Square Farm Service In Bethel

Clermont County and Hamilton County firms form a partnership to buy the Camery Feed Mill on South Union Street Bethel from Virgil Camery. New owners are Paul and Mrs. Lytle of Lytle Hay & Grain and Joseph and Mrs. Lau Mann of Mt. Washington Hatchery. Elton Stevens becomes mill manager and Eddie Thien oversees outside sales. The business becomes a Purina Product Outlet offering shows and farm supplies.

Courier To Honor Anna L. Hall On Mother's Day

A Williamsburg mother of five county welfare children, Anna L. Hall, 35, is to be honored by The Clermont Courier at Coney Island on Sunday May 13. The nomination came from Thelma Tomadichel of Williamsburg, praising Hall’s devotion and care for the children. Mrs Hall and her husband Thomas E a truck driver at Camp Dennison and their blended family will attend a family chicken dinner with free ride tickets for the children. The Courier will present Mrs Hall a special Mothers Day gift and Mrs Tomadichel will receive a gift as well.

Saint Ursula Academy Variety Show Slated May 18 19

Cincinnati three ClerMont students participate in Saint Ursula Academy seventh annual variety show in Saint Angela's Hall. May 18 and 19 at 8 p m feature polka dances, a Beau ty Parlor Quartet, melodrama tap and ballet, directed by Mrs Norma Mullinger for the Girls Athletic Association. Proceeds aid the building fund.

Motorist Hurt In 2 Car Crash Near Bethel

Alfred Hall 45 of 328 North Main Street suffered head and left leg abrasions after a two car collision on Route 125 one mile west of Bethel. State patrol said the other driver John T. Dalsover 31 of Cincinnati lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic.

Red Cross Founder’s Clermont Chapter Honored in Santa Cruz

In Santa Cruz California 80 year old Mrs Blanche Heidlebaugh recalls working with Clara Barton during the 1900 Galveston flood. She helped organize the Clermont chapter in Batavia Ohio and served with the Red Cross from 1900. The Galveston hurricane killed thousands and spurred Barton to lead relief efforts.

Two of Three Issues Fail on Clermont County Ballot

Low voter turnout marked Tuesdays primary in Clermont County with three levies on the ballot. Two measures failed: Union township zoning levy defeated 441 to 394 and Felicity operating levy down 138 to 95. Miami township bond for school construction won by eight tenths of a vote, 296 to 196. Unofficial results list numerous county and state races across Republicans and Democrats.

Work Begins On School Addition

Williamsburg reports that Beech Forest Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution invites Mrs. Carl W. Keitzman regent of the Cincinnati chapter as guest speaker for Saturday May 12. A Continental Congress report will be presented and Mrs. Lovell Atkins is host. The Batavia Grange women’s degree team will confer the third and fourth degrees on May 17, with members urged to attend and bring fruit jello or cookies for refreshments.

Goshen Dominates Clermont Track Meet With 56 Points

Goshen High School captured the Clermont County Track Meet with 56 points. Williamsburg took second with 49, Batavia 35, Owensville 20, Felicity and Moscow 11, while Amelia G Bowling of Williamsburg led individuals with 13 percent points and Fox of Goshen was runner up with 13. Grange sets May 12 meeting at 8 30 p.m. IOOF hall with a Mother’s Day program to follow.

Barn Fire Destroys Afton Barn

Afton area barn owned by John J. Lung burned Tuesday afternoon. The two tractors inside were worth about 5,000 dollars, and the barn valued at 5,000 dollars. Insurance partially covered the loss. Batavia firefighters arrived as the roof collapsed, and a grass fire near Shinkle's store was controlled two hours later with no damage. Sunday Courier reports school addition plans in Coney Goshen: L. G. House says construction starts this week for 14 classrooms restrooms and a parking area at a total cost of 253,000 dollars with 168,000 from local bonds and 85,000 from the state. Bid summary includes Eve land 171,562 general, Geiler Plumbing 11,457, General Air Conditioning 20,274, Fogarty Electric 15,970, F. A. Camp 3,250, land 78, equip 11,136.22.

Retiring Scout Head Presented With Rail Ticket

Carlton Hyde retiring executive of Brown and Clermont Districts Boy Scouts of America received a round trip Pullman ticket to St. Petersburg Florida from Clermont and Brown districts after seven and one half years service. Hyde will visit his sister there before moving to Vinton Iowa where his two sons run businesses. He called the trip the finest thing that has ever happened to him in scouting.

Three Prisoners Ordered To Lima State Hospital

Judge Harry Britton of Clermont County Common Pleas Court orders three prisoners to Lima State Hospital for observation. Ralph Means, 32, Bethel, charged with grand larceny. Morris Booth, 25, Bellvue Kentucky, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle without owner's consent. Elmer Elder, 32, Batavia, charged with breaking and entering Hi Port Bottling Co.

Floriculturist To Speak On Beautification At Batavia

Victor Reis an extension horticulturist of Ohio State University will discuss village beautification lawn tree and shrub improvement at an Improvement Council meeting at Batavia Presbyterian Church on May 28 at 8 p m Representatives from various groups are invited to share ideas for community planting and beautification A career conference for agricultural and home economics students is set for May 12 at Waynesville School with parents invited.
