Ex Court Star Dies In Crash

John Frey Jr. 20 of 211 Center Street was killed when the car he rode in struck the Twelve Mile Creek bridge abutment on US 52 Monday at about 11 p.m. Driver Alfred Randolph received cuts and bruises. charged with reckless driving. Frey, a former New Richmond basketball star and mail carrier, died at the scene. He is survived by his parents a brother and a sister. Also notes a separate 4H Tractor Maintenance Club meeting at Amelia Tractor Sales with a discussion on tractor air cleaners.

County Librarian To Speak At OLA Meeting May 18

Voter League Provisional Status and May Meeting

The Clermont County League of Women Voters gains provisional status as of May 7 1956. The Batavia Presbyterian Church hosts a May 25 meeting at 1230 PM with lunch and a guest. film Cloud over Ohio promotes water conservation as part of a national study. May 19 opens Wonderland Park in Clermont County with zoo rides and free admission. Conley family runs the park and plans landscaping and a June golf range opening.

County Farm Tour Set for May 25 in Clermont

Ohio State University extension specialists led by W W Hamilton announce a Clermont County farm tour on May 25 to study agronomy dairy and engineering practices. Stops include urban barns at Batavia, a Williams burg area dairy silage operation, spittlebug spray results, a new pond and pasture setup, and a bulk milk tank drainage project with guided observations by Matthis Hutchinson and Widdmeyer.

Doctor Returns To Local Office In Batavia

Dr. Phillip R. Dobert resumes medical practice on Main Street Batavia after two years on active Navy duty at Key West Florida. Mrs Dobert and children joined him there at his submarine base posting. A photo shows President Eisenhower waving goodbye as Dobert left for Washington. Dr Albert Ryan now covers the practice before moving to Hollywood Florida for general work.

Champion Speller Heads to Capital for National Bee

Owensville takes note as Carol Franc is champion speller from southern Ohio and her coach Greta Thirey depart Sunday for Washington DC to compete Friday May 18 in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. They attended a Willard Hotel welcome party and enjoyed sightseeing before the spelling contest at the Commerce Department auditorium. Carol is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Watson Francis of near Monterey and attends local school.

Morser Hearing Set For May 23 Court of Appeals

May 23 has been set for a Court of Appeals hearing on a decision invalidating the consolidation of the Amelia Williamsville Tabas co and Mt Carmel Glen Este school districts. Attorney Harold Nichols of Batavia represents taxpayers who filed suit challenging consolidation. Judge John Houston said the county board of education met in a special session rather than a regular session when it moved to place consolidation on the ballot. Prosecution Ray Bradford and Robert Jones represent the county and local boards in defense of the consolidation.
