A reader urges Ohio and federal action to create deposit insurance for banks. The letter discusses 30 hour work weeks, sales tax effects, and suggests funding a mutual insurance company backed by bank reserves to protect depositors, reducing political influence and state exam needs.
The Batavia P. T. A. will hold a May 11 meeting at 8 PM in the high school auditorium. Speakers include Mrs. Peasley from Cincinnati and Mrs. James H. Birrel of Rossmayne with performances by Mrs. Stewart and Donald and Denney Shultz. Local chairmen list program, finance, and memberships duties.
Rev C T Nelson returned from the Lexington annual Conference held in Chicago where he was appointed for the second year to the Batavia and Laurel charge. Mother's Day will be observed at Taylor M E church with Sunday School at 9 45 a m and Epworth League at 7 p m.

County Commissioners order 14 day quarantine for all dogs south of the Ohio pike from May 8 at the request of County Health Commissioner Dr Coulburn.
Former resident of Batavia Mrs Caroline Jenike widow of J C Jenike died at St Francis Hospital Cincinnati after weeks of illness. Her remains were brought home Friday for Presbyterian church service and Union cemetery burial. Survived by four sons and five daughters. Age 75.
A. H. Lewis and J. W. Kincaid take over interests of Hmil Dial and will operate as Chevrolet dealers with full service for parts and repairs. Social at M. W. A. Hall Mt Pisgah May 18 by Ladies for church. Chicken sandwiches ice cream and cake served for a good cause.
Mr and Mrs G W Huntington of Amelia marked their 60th wedding anniversary at home last Sunday with children grandchildren and great grandchildren present. Friends rejoiced at the notable event as both enjoy good health with Mrs H preparing the dinner.
The Clermont County Medical Society will convene at Owensville School Auditorium on Wednesday May 17 at 2 p m. Guest of honor Dr Thompson of Bethel will discuss medicine 70 years ago. Of these 218, 3 died, 4 permanently disabled, 66 lost more than seven days, 23 seven days or fewer, and 122 medical cases with no time loss. All injuries caused 21 071 days of time loss. statewide total 7 899 388 days. Previous year Clermont filed 827 claims with 2 fatalities and 15 267 days lost. Batavia remains atop the league at 2-0 after a long 11-9 victory over Nobis Supply. Nobis had 16 hits, with 11 off Hoberg, 3 off Anstaett, and 2 off Bailey, while Batavia managed 10 hits off Nobis pitching. Key contributors: A Garner, E Bailey, and Hoberg each two hits for Batavia. Ginn and Inskin three hits for Nobis. Next Sunday Williamsburg aces visit Batavia. Bailey likely on mound with Kinner catching. Other results: Amelia 8 N R Tramps 6. Williamsburg 5 N R Merchants. Plans for an indoor carnival at the Batavia Armory next Saturday May 13 progress. Free Minstrel Show crowns the program with a Crosley Radio giveaway on display at Hugh King Radio Shop and many side shows. Batavia Boy Scouts plan world famous freaks including the Wild Man of Borneo for spectator entertainment. Admission at the door is ten seats.
The East Hill Farm Club met on May 4 at Mrs. Mary Glancy in Williamsburg with seventeen members and one guest. The program covered Yard Landscaping, a roll call on favorites, a humorous reading by Miss Ethel Davidson, a canning strawberries paper by Mrs. Alma Patterson, a recitation by Mrs. Binkley, and a song by Juanita. After lunch and a social hour, plans were made to meet in June with Mrs. Rose Cover.
Frank K. Harman of Felicity elected president of the Kappi Phi Kappa fraternity at Ohio State University in Columbus. A senior in arts education with a physics major, Harman chairs the University Council of Fraternity Presidents and is a Felicity-Franklin High School graduate.
The 4 H Sewing Club at Mt Carmel Presbyterian Church met on Saturday April 29. Officers elected: president Anna Bersiza. vice president Alberta Rumpke. treasurer Mary Aicholtz. secretary Nellie Roye. recreation leader Loretta Rumpke. news reporter Stella Aicholtz. Mrs Roy Maddox, club leader, spoke on upcoming work. Meeting adjourned until May 10.
On April 25 about 55 Grange members attended an exchange program at Bethel Grange Hall featuring Spitzmiller orchestra and readings by Annabel Fiera and Elijah Eppert with Mrs. Saunders and a closing song. A lunch followed. May 3 the semi monthly meeting was held. With Master ill, overseer R. C. Knause filled the chair as the third and fourth degree team presented work to nine candidates. Dr. Scource of Amelia gave an talk and will repeat May 17. Pie and coffee were served. Visitors from Bantam Bethel and Batavia attended.
The New Richmond school board announced hires for the district Monday night. High school staff include Mary Ireton Marie Bushman Louis Rahn and Charles Light. Grade school additions are Wilfred Armacost Paul Wiggins Flora Burnett Anna Wyatt Nellie Robuck and Louise Carroll. Three high school vacancies and one grade vacancy will be filled May 22. The three new teachers are Misses Ireton Bushman and Light.
At a Batavia Township Board of Education meeting last Saturday the following teachers were employed Needa Manning Anna Engelheam Olive Branch Mrs Pauline Otto Elmwood Zenas Anstaett and Virginia Slye Afton Elton Stouder Greenbriar Elklick listed as unemployed for the period.
