The Clermont County Hospital Guild hosts its annual flower and bake sale in the hospital lobby on Thursday and Friday May 10 and 11. Volunteer Mildred Kinzel inspects plants offered for sale just in time for Mother's Day.

SBA official to address Clermont County Chamber meeting

Cecil G. Boatright, Cincinnati SBA branch manager, will speak to Clermont County Chamber of Commerce members on Wednesday May 9 at Clermont College Batavia. The open meeting begins at 12 30 with lunch at noon. He will outline SBA goals eligibility assistance application process and SCORE services to support small businesses.

Williamsburg Annexations Set During County Hearings

Clermont County Commissioners scheduled hearings on two Williams burg annexations. On Tuesday June 5 at 10 a.m. residents will discuss annexing 108 acres south of Third and Spring Streets. A second hearing on Tuesday July 17 at 11 a.m. covers an annexation by two property owners northwest of the village near SR 133 and proposed SR 32.

Local historical society to meet and view Norman Rockwell film

Batavia gathering of the Little Miami and East Fork Rivers Citizens' Historical Society, Inc. will convene May 11 at 8 p.m. in the CG&E building. A color movie Norman Rockwell's World will be shown and refreshments served. Plans for the July 18 summer picnic are announced.

Nine Mile sewer project set to begin in county area

About 250 residents attended a hearing on the Nine Mile Sewer System proposed for Williamsville Cherry Grove area. The project aims to serve around 2000 users including Cherry Grove shopping center and Witham Woods, with a total cost near 12 million dollars funded by EPA grant and revenue bonds. Construction could start within 90 days and take two years pending right of way purchases and any lawsuits.

Policeman John Hemsath Jailed Over Perjury Case

John Perin St. Thomas Hemsath of the Pierce Township police department received a 14 day jail term for perjury and tampering with evidence. Judge Louis J. Schwartz had previously sentenced him to 3 to 10 years in prison and a $5000 fine on each charge, with terms running consecutively, but suspended most penalties. Hemsath, who resigned after his conviction, was found guilty April 10 of entrapping burglary suspect Dexter Amburgy at a vacation home in Pierce Township.

Dollar bills used to insulate Ohio homes

Clermont County developer Al Fangman Jr of Union Township is insulating houses with shredded Federal Reserve notes. The discarded currency is treated with fire retardant and glue, then sprayed onto walls for insulation, a method born from salvaging waste rather than importing paper.

Early filings for Clermont County November 6 election begin

Petitions already filed at the Clermont County Board of Elections in Batavia for the November 6 general election. Offices up for non partisan seats include township trustees clerks village mayors and council members. Filing deadlines August 8 for most offices August 23 for county and district boards. Referendum petitions for a 1.8 mill 800000 bond for Blanchester schools due within 30 days.
