Scout Clean-Up Teams Earn Praise After Tornado

Newtonsville and area volunteers led by J. D. Wernery and Carl Burdette cleared debris on 25 farms after the April tornado. About 340 scouts from 28 troops assisted with civil defense, Red Cross aid provided thousands of sandwiches, and local leaders praised the effort while acknowledging more work remains to restore normalcy.

Rita McKenzie to Speak to Clermont Republicans

Williamsburg resident Miss Rita McKenzie will address Clermont County Republicans at the DX Ranch on SR 125 May 9 at 8 p.m. She is a Miami University sophomore and a 1967 State ORATORICAL winner who will work at the National Republican Headquarters in Washington, D.C. A fund raising auction follows at Lion's Club Park Amelia on Saturday May 11. members are asked to bring small items for auction.

Tornado stricken Stahl dairy farm relies on neighborly relief

The Henry Stahl farm near Newtonsville suffered over 24000 in damage to a 221 acre operation. A nearby pole barn and the home roof were destroyed while 60 farmers and their wives organized by the NFO assisted with debris cleanup and fence replacement. Two cows were crippled but recovered and 20 baby pigs disappeared amid the high wind. The community fed volunteers for days as emergency relief arrived.

MGS Sewer Grant Favored By HUD

Congressman William H Harsha announced that the Economic Development Administration approved a 415000 grant to expand sewer facilities in Goshen Miami Townships and to create about 150 jobs at Clermont Nursing and Convalescent Home. Total project cost 830000 with county funding 415000. HDR aid for a 14 million grant toward the MGS sewer system has brightened. officials plan to apply.
