King and Queen Crowned at Batavia Junior Prom

Batavia High School crowned Bill An krom and Ruth Bissaitz as King and Queen of the Junior Prom, held in the decorated school gym. Charlie Kehrer and his orchestra provided music. The preceding Junior-Senior banquet drew 27 seniors and 34 juniors. Decorations used dyed tobacco cloth forming a sky blue canopy with stars.

Kalida man Robert Kahle killed in head-on crash

Robert Kahle a former Batavia resident and Kahle Feed Mill employee died in a head on collision near his Kalida Ohio home Friday evening Clarence Steed a car passenger also died They were both military veterans and given a funeral with interment in Kalida They left a wife children mother six brothers and one sister.

Walker Clerk Named Deputy Clerk of Clermont County Election Board

Attorney James W. Walker of Batavia is named deputy clerk to fill the vacancy after J.M. Wiseman's death. S. L. Larkin remains clerk. Appointments made at a special election board meeting last week. Walker will continue his law practice and keep his Main Street office. Larkin is an insurance and real estate agent in Batavia.

Jury Out In Kerr Parsons Trial

The Clermont County Common Pleas Court trial Kerr versus Parsons was underway with the jury deliberating. Robert Kerr seeks damages from William Parsons over water supply issues on Kerr’s purchased property, with a decision expected later that day.

Haussermann Seeks Dismissal Of Mining Case In Ohio Court

In Clermont County Common Pleas Court Judge John W. Haussermann and Benguet Consolidated Mining Co face a motion to quash and set aside summons. The suit by Idonah Slade Perkins seeks about 2.58 million related to mine stock and dividends tied to a Philippine divorce dispute. Perkins and her husband reside in the Philippines. similar actions have been filed there. The defendant argues the company is a sociedad anonima and not doing business in Ohio, hence not subject to Ohio law.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 30 p m in White Memorial Funeral Home New Richmond for Lola H Erdman 52 of New Richmond a longtime public school teacher in Clermont and Adams Counties for 28 years She died at Christ Hospital Cincinnati following a months long illness Burial was in Manchester Ohio Cemetery Erdman spent most of her career teaching in New Richmond and Nicholsville

Clermont County approves backing for dog quarantine

The Clermont County Commissioners passed a resolution to back law enforcement and the public in enforcing the county wide dog quarantine. The move comes after rabies cases sparked the quarantine by the County Health Board and aims to reduce roaming dogs with stricter enforcement and dog warden pickups. Roy and Mrs Brooking hosted a reception for VFW Post 3954 officers. A three legged calf was born at Popham farm near Felicity.

The Clermont County Poppy Day drive will be held May 17 in Batavia Bethel Milford and Owensville led by VFW Commander Charles De Night. Miss Janet Anstaett 14 was critically injured crossing the highway near her home after alighting from a school bus. She suffered multiple injuries and remains in critical condition at Christ Hospital Cincinnati.

St Thomas More PTA Williamsville will install the 1947 48 officers at the final meeting next Wednesday May 14 at 1 PM. Longstanding Bethel baptism fulfilled after 22 years

Bethel Journal editor C. P. Althaus saw a 22 year old wish fulfilled when Ho Lien Yu, a Chinese student baptized in the mission church, returned to Bethel from Liangtan China. Yu, now a U S government employee in Washington DC, plans to go back to China soon.

Miami Trustees Seek Site for Public Dump
