Kidnapper Caught After Abduction Near Hartwell
Sheriff Robert Roberts and deputies Meinken and Kain arrested James L. Edster of Hartwell on kidnapping charges after he forced Elizabeth Courts into his auto near Carey Company and sped to Batavia where she escaped at Kramer’s restaurant. Edster is jailed awaiting Hamilton County officers. Also, Ralph Howell and John Lowry paid fines for drunken driving. Revival meetings at United Brethren church draw large crowds with Rev. Sanford's music and sermons. Patriotic night featured the American Legion flag presentation to the Boy Scouts. Services continue nightly through May 12 with all day programs and an afternoon musical.
