Sewers Underway After Ten Year Delay Break Ground Near Ash Tree

Ground broken for the O Bannon sewer project behind an ancient ash tree beside a treatment plant. Financed by a US EPA Home Administration loan of 7.7 million dollars. The plant will replace outdated facilities and lift stations and connect many septic systems. Randolph Plumbing Co. named plumbing contractor for the plant. Armrel Construction to build the collection sewers. Continued on page 2.

Homeowners Withdraw From Zoning Fight OnSR 74

Rumpe Road Homeowners Association drops single parcel zoning challenge after 20 acre Eastgate Plaza plan advances. The group no longer opposes 11 acres along SR 74 as fire code and communications upgrades are discussed. County officials expect the new system within about six months.

Communities like Batavia and New Richmond will keep receiving block grant funds under the county grantee while the planning commission administers them. Clermont could get about 500000 in the first round, Buckley said, with the exact figure not yet set and to be announced in May.

Clough elementary cafeteria talks persistence at school board meeting

At the April 26 meeting Clough elementary parents and staff discussed reopening the Glen Este cafeteria. Tennant said a sincere effort is under way to amend the dissolved situation and a solution will come from a desire to improve pre existing conditions. Parents voiced support for cafeteria service but pressed for privacy on issues. A June 8 bond issue of .64 mill is on the Local School District ballot that could yield about $1,000,000 over eight years. Holly Hill Elementary PTA officers were elected after a April 14 meeting with parents planning committees for the upcoming year. Teegarden described PTA state affiliation and lobbyist representation.

Mother's Day boutique and flower sale at Clermont Mercy Hospital

Batavia residents learn the eighth annual Mother's Day sale will run May 6 and 7 in the hospital main lobby from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A variety of plants, baskets, boutique items and baked goods will be available.
