State highway planning survey shows traffic outside municipalities fell sharply. January down 35.4 percent, February down a similar level, and March down 27.1 percent from 1942. First quarter decline surpassed 1941 levels with drops of 84.6, 35.5, and 36.6 percent respectively.
The notice lists rationing stamps and validity dates for Sugar Coffee Processed Foods Meats Shoes Tires and Fuel Oil. It also outlines office hours from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday with a Wednesday afternoon closure and provides the Batavia board telephone number.

Key figures include Lieutenant Colonel Lewis Taylor M L Wilson and Colonel Phillip G Bruton with War Department support. Agreements cut with Mexico the Bahamas and Jamaica for foreign workers.
Highland County Common Pleas Judge George W. McDowell overruled a motion for a new trial by Maurice Allen former Clerk Treasurer of the Greenfield Board of Education and passed sentence on three April indictments. Allen was convicted of withholding public records embezzling 5215.20 and concealing and destroying records. He received two concurrent terms of one to twenty years and fines totaling 10 430.40 on the second count and 300 plus costs on the third. Sheriff Cleo Shaffer will escort him to prison Tuesday. His counsel did not file an appeal motion.
A wartime appeal requests six to ten inch hunting knives for soldiers fighting Japanese forces. Donors should bring knives to Batavia defense offices or mail to Ohio State Council of Defense in Columbus with a tag bearing name address and phone number.
Ohio and national 4-H youths, busy with wartime production and material conservation, plan 1943 National 4-H Home Grounds Beautification contests. Awards include medals, gold watches, and trips to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, with recognitions based on county, state, and national levels.
All persons in Clermont County who rent rooms in cottages hotels or private homes must register with the Area Rent Office in Cincinnati or authorized agents. Agents will be in Batavia May 14 and 21 New Richmond May 19 and Bethel May 15 to receive registrations. If last rent for January February or March 1 1942 plus services is not higher than today the landlord is exempt from penalty. All others must register by May 31 1943 if not already done.

Fort Benning Ga May 3 promotions include Second Lieut Herbert Emil Hogberg Batavia Ohio to First Lieutenant and supply officer of the 300th Infantry. Other notes cover Army Air Forces Technical Training Command graduates, hospital corps schooling, and new inductees from Batavia and Amelia driven by ongoing pilot and maintenance training.
A Middletown theft involved a man taking a pair of men 814 shoes without ration stamps from a Big Four boxcar after rummaging a Greenville firm carton. Railroad detectives found no other missing items.
All Clermont County residents who plan to buy liquor from Ohio State stores after June 1 must register with the Ohio Liquor Control Commission by May 10. Registration forms, obtainable at local liquor stores in the applicant’s district, require name address age and physical characteristics. Forms must be completed at home and mailed to the district store. Wayne Goshen and Miami Township residents use the Milford store while others use Batavia.
A musical program by Batavia High School will be held in the Auditorium Thursday evening May 6 at 8 00. The program features the band glee club and solos. Miss Betty Gene Winland is the music instructor.
Clermont County exceeds its $1,323,000 quota in the second war loan drive, raising over $2,000,000. The community of 34,000 averages about $60 per person. Milford and Batavia lead districts, with Milford at about 218 percent and Batavia around 208 percent of quota.
Milford National Bank reported sales of 423 975 dollars against a 194 90 quota while First National Bank Batavia posted 298 125 dollars to a 141 800 goal. Bank leaders credit well organized drives led by F C Hamsock Milford Clermont County Chairman. total subscribers reached 2 451. totals may rise as further tallies come in. National drive was announced as far over subscribed.
A pretty wedding united Pvt. Donald McAfee of Morrison Field Florida and Miss Eleanora Lushbaugh at St. Louis church Monday at 9:00 am. Miss Dorothy Collier was bridesmaid, Mr. Jno. Sefakis best man, and Miss Jo Ann Lushbaugh maid of honor. Pvt. Earl McAfee could not attend. The couple will depart Friday or Saturday for W Palm Beach Post.
Mrs. C. R. Spangler is recuperating from severe burns suffered while preparing the noon meal last Thursday.
Judge Will P. Stephenson of West Union former Ohio Supreme Court member and Adams County Common Pleas Judge died in a Cincinnati hospital after a heart ailment. He gained national prominence in 1910 11 as special Adams County prosecutor prosecuting over 2000 citizens for vote frauds, with up to 25000 spent annually on purchases. He was buried at Manchester, his former home.
Word from Mr. J. P. Schmidt Columbus supervisor of Community Institutes that Miss Mary Lou Ashton Rt. 1 Williamsburg was a state winner in the States Community Institute poster contest. Her poster entered in the first through sixth grade class was made last January for the Marathon Community Institute.
