Clermont County to Get Extensive Road Improvements
Representative John Hayden outlines major and minor highway upgrades in Clermont County. Plans include rebuilding two large culverts on State Route 74 between Batavia and Williamsburg, widening the roadway, installing about 114 miles of guard rails on Route 125, surface treatment and widening on Route 131, repairing Route 52 with blacktop, resealing cracks, painting guard rails, and digging a safe drinking water well at Chile. Hayden welcomes the guard rail purchase as a long-urged improvement.

Clermont Robberies Reported Sunday Morning
Robbers struck multiple residences and businesses on Route 50 and near Marathon. They took cigars tobacco beer from P A Caldwell's saloon, eight shoulder ham six bacon from John Inskeep's home, gasoline from George C Kipp's Perintown grocery, and a radio plus auto tags from Sigh Samad's Wishingwell in Perintown. Sheriff Auxier investigated three cases with no clues.

Frank Willis Files Petition to Seek Reelection

Rail wreck injures crew as coal train derails near Williamsburg
Seventeen cars of a West Virginia bound coal train on the N and W line derailed a mile above Williamsburg after an axle broke. The 94 car consist had 88 loaded and six empty. track torn up for a half mile and coal scattered. Nooffe was injured. crews from multiple points assisted with clearing and repairs by evening.

The Batavia Scout troop, led by Judge Halbisch, reports the Craft Shop at Broadway foot on his property will be completed by June 1. It will house woodworking tools, a horse shoe court, baseball diamond, swings and see-saws, with Clermont Construction Co. funding the ball diamond grading. The troop of 30 boys plans to repair discarded toys for Christmas distribution and welcomes toy or clothing donations via any Scout. Trio Remain in Jail Over Unpaid Fines
James R. Starns Virgil Sensabaugh and Victor Caldwell all of near Bethel were jailed again after failing to pay fines in Mayor Wiseman's court. They were stopped on Route 138 near Clover for driving with insufficient lights and attempted to switch drivers before arrest. Starns charged with resisting an officer Sensabaugh with driving while intoxicated and Caldwell with operating a vehicle with insufficient lights.

John Ashby a 50 year old Milford dog food shop proprietor was struck by a machine Thursday night about 10 45 near State Highway No 50 east of Milford. CW Adams of Cincinnati driving the machine and U S Engineer Earl Jackson aided Ashby to a machine and then to Dr W E Thomas Milford. The injured man was taken to Bethesda Hospital Cincinnati and may have a fractured skull. Ashby formerly of Williamsville was a former State Representative candidate. Adams works for Lou Hopkins Real Estate Agency Cincinnati.
