Obituary for Henry Ebendorf of Batavia and Boston area

Henry Ebendorf born August 6 1943 in Germany died March 98 1016 at age 72 years 7 months 2 days after pneumonia. He lived in Moscow Ohio Batavia and Boston and served German United Brethren church as trustee steward and treasurer and taught Sunday school. He died unmarried and was known as Uncle while living with his nephew Henry Schultz for his final years leaving two sisters Mrs John Schultz Sr and Mrs Elizabeth Bulow among many relatives.

D A R Rally Initiates D A Officers in Third District

The annual D A R rally and initiation for the tenth district including Clermont, Brown and Warren counties was held at Bethel on April 29 1916 drawing nearly 300 members from about twenty local councils. Felicity Council No 146 won a silk flag prize for the largest class of fourteen initiates. Officers were elected with Batavia chosen as 1917 meeting site and include Sister Hornback Sister Corliss Sister Hattie Kincaid Sister Barbara Rush Sister Kennedy Sister May Hauck Sister Cushard Sister Simmarman and Brother Riether with Felicity as the Vice Council location.

Cler mont County Commissioners vote to issue 100000 in bonds for road improvement under attorney general ruling. A friendly suit may test legality within 30 days. Bonds will be advertised and work prepared. The Goodwin and Poetown mile pike was awarded to Charles McBeth at 2870. O. O. Mattox named civil engineer for Tate township without salary.

Captured in Loveland on Assault Charge

Frank James, accused of assaulting 11 year old Grace Lodwick of Medaria last Thursday, was captured in Loveland on Friday and given a preliminary hearing. Lodwick identified him as her attacker. He claimed intoxication and lack of awareness. The crowd's unrest prompted the transfer to Cincinnati for safety and he was bound over to the grand jury. Drunkenness is not a defense. the article suggests confinement if kept in jail.

Owensville Graduates Six In Commencement Exercises

Six graduates received diplomas at Owensville schools last Saturday night. Stanley Snider John Rutledge Mary Favrer Ralph Schultz Aurelia Turner and Clifford Rosselot were the diploma recipients as music orations and recitations filled the program. Two weeks earlier seniors were honored at a reception and banquet at the Miller House. The school closed a successful year.

Brown County Eyes Pike Bond Issue For Repairs

Under Attorney General Turner the Brown County commissioners may issue bonds to repair their pikes. The bonds can be sold and funds spent on pike improvement this summer if approved by a vote of the people, but no major work before next summer due to labor shortages and high city wages from war plants. Stowe becomes new county agent for arm hag to Clermont county experiment saved in Vataa and takes charge of the work.
