Goshen Levy Defeat Sparks Staff Cuts and Higher Fees
Goshen 3.9 mill school levy failed for a second time on March 23 with 753 against and 533 for. Warren County supported the levy 41 to 36 but Clermont County weighed in with 720 against and 492 for. Superintendent William Russell warned cuts and higher student fees are likely, with about 230000 in potential revenue lost and borrowing next year. He noted five or six certified staff cuts as probable and pushed for self funding of extracurriculars to ease the district’s tight budget. Russell blamed the economy and called for legislative action on taxes to ease district finances.
