Two Milford Fire Alarms Strain Small Daytime Force
Milford firefighters faced a rare double alert last Thursday as Chief Paul E. Bosch and six men battled a Maple Leaf Lane blaze that destroyed the Charles Brook home. While fighting that fire, a second alarm to the Collins residence on Laurel Ave. brought Joe Fitzwater, Police Chief Earl Konrad and one more volunteer. the later fire proved a damaged line with no house damage. The Brook property suffered about 18 500 dollars in losses including the home and furnishings. The Milford department relies on 10 or 11 volunteers during the day out of 30 total, limiting response when alarms come simultaneously. The Miami East department also assisted and the three-hour effort finally contained the flames.
