Laurel Residents Hear Bell Recordings Session
Laurel residents heard hymns and folk songs played on a twelve bell chime ranging from 1910 to 154 pounds. The bells, installed in a local farm garage by I T Verdin Co of Cincinnati, were cast in Awlie Rixwel Holland by Petit and Fritzen Co, makers since 1632. Over 200 songs were recorded to capture overtones with high fidelity using a nearby recording setup.

Fire destroys buildings along Rt 125 near Amelia
A Sunday blaze driven by 30 mph winds destroyed two concrete block structures and damaged a wooden warehouse on Route 125 west of Amelia. The two story brick office and apartment building housing the West Clermont school district office suffered heat and smoke damage. Firefighters from three departments fought the three hour fire. two volunteers were injured and treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.
