Ashland Man’s Body Found Near Mt Holly Murder Suspected
Herbert Beatty of Ashland Kentucky a 58 year old furniture salesman is found dead on Union Chapel Road about forty miles south of Batavia. Bullets from an army revolver killed him authorities search with Cincinnati and Ashland police to catch a possible deserter. A $435 reward is posted for information leading to the killer and Beatty’s daughters are named among survivors.

Batavia High School musicians earned high honors at the Southwestern Ohio District Music Festival held at Miami University in Oxford. The Batavia band received a superior rating for the third year in a row, and soloists Virginia Kain Frances Snell Hugh Nichols and Howard Lewis received top ratings for voice and instruments. The four students advance to the All Ohio High School Festival in Columbus. The band performed Crusades and The Midnight Sun with praised tone, balance, and intonation.

Prominent Clermont Lawyer Dies After Long Illness
Herbert L. Britton, 71, a storied southern Ohio attorney based in Williamsburg, died Thursday at 2 AM after a prolonged illness. A former Clermont County State Representative, he practiced with his son Harry L. Britton in Batavia and was known for hunting and fishing. Funeral at J. Isaac Maham Funeral Home followed by services Saturday. He is survived by his widow Blanche, son Harry, and sister Mrs. Emma Dyer.

Clermont County investigators traced a $5000 safe burglary at Moscow Bank Moscow Ohio to a likely gang from Lexington Kentucky. Officers with Deputy Sheriff Joe Colonel Detective Charles Mullen and others examined the scene and took fingerprints. Suspect Eddie Ralston of Cincinnati was identified in Lexington as a jewelry thief wanted in Orlando Florida.

Measle Cases Force Two County School Closures
Measles prompted Branch Hill School to close for the rest of the week and Milford public schools to suspend kindergarten through second grades for the week. About 45 pupils in Milford's early grades have measles among 113 in those classes, with several cases reported serious. Superintendent M. H. Burkholder stated many pupils have chicken pox, mumps, or pink eye.

Farmer Killed Near Tobasco In Route 125 Crash
Ed Farrow a 60 year old Withamsville farmer was killed when a Ritchie Brothers truck from Feesburg Ohio ran over his farm wagon on Route 125 east of Tobasco near Mt Moriah cemetery. The wagon horse and Farrow died instantly and the truck had to be jacked up to recover him.
