Easter Services Planned Across Clermont County Churches

Easter observances are planned with sunrise services and union events. The Batavia Methodist Church reopens Sunday after repairs February 23, featuring a 6 30 am sunrise service, 7 30 pm reopening and sermon by Dr Warren J Dunham. Holy Week services run each night at different churches ending with a union Communion at First Presbyterian.

Rabies in County Dogs and Cats Prompt Health Review

County Health Commissioner W H Gaskins reports rising rabies concerns from cat attacks and dog quarantines. A recent cat bite case produced a positive rabies result while 25 of 36 dogs tested previously were positive. Comparisons show Summit and Brown counties where mass dog vaccination reduced cases.

Holy Week Observance at St. Ann's Church

Holy Week events include the Passion and crucifixion rites at St. Ann's Catholic Church. A service on Good Friday begins at 7 30 p m with the Way of the Cross Rosary adoration of the crucifix and a sermon by Rev. James H Hoban. A High Mass is planned for Easter Sunday at 8 00 a m with Rev Hoban celebrant.

License Deadline Near for 1948 Tags and Licenses

Haward T. Fogo, registrar, warns motorists only days remain to obtain 1948 license tags with no extension past March 31. New tags required for all vehicles by April 1, and drivers who did not renew or secure a license last fall must take an examination if applying after April 1.

Comedy Returns to AméIia With Benefit Show

The comedy Everybody's Crazy Now is brought back to Amélia by popular demand. Presented two weeks ago for Mt. Holly Christian Chapel, it will play again at 8 p.m. April 1 in the Amelia school auditorium. The Cler mont County Tuberculosis and Health Association will hold its annual meeting on the evening of March 30 in the Health Commissioner’s office. Officers for the year will be elected and plans for next year’s work discussed. All officers, board members, and health supporters are urged to attend.

Virgil Sams, arrested March 20 by Sheriff Clyde Dericks and Deputy Marvin Bissantz, entered a not guilty plea in a hearing before Mayor A. C. Munden and was bound over to the grand jury.

Baseball League Forms with Entry Interest at Batavia Court House

The organization outlines a 12 team league with first half round robin play and a three and out elimination for the second half. Clubs must post $50 forfeit and $25 prize money at the meeting next Friday at 7:45 p.m. The $50 forfeits are refundable if no forfeits occur.

The county wide effort to rid farms and village property of rats starts Friday. Sponsored with the help of County Agent W. W. Hamilton and others, the campaign aims to curb rodent problems on local properties.

Maw Resigns as Scout Head in Clermont County

Wallace Maw, field executive for Boy Scout activities in Clermont County, says he will resign Sept. 15 to join the University of Cincinnati staff and resume work on his master's degree. Maw served with the Red Cross during World War II.

Contracts Sought For Mowing County Roadsides

Clermont County commissioners invite bids by April 5 1948 for mowing county roadsides. The county is split into eight sections seven to be mowed by contract and one by the county mower. Bidders may obtain blanks and details from the office.

Preparations are complete for the annual library dinner dance on April 2. A ham dinner will be served at 5 30 p m and dancing to Bob Le Mann's orchestra begins at 8 00 p m. The largest family attending will win a prize.
