The Withamsville Volunteer Fire Department ran three grass fire calls on Sunday March 14, two at Withamsville and one at Glen Este with Amelia Fire Department aiding the third fire that burned about 50 acres. Chief Schaerges cautions against grass fires during the dry period. On Monday March 15 the department responded to Summerside as a gasoline truck overturned in front of Charles Kettler’s restaurant. Crews flushed the restaurant driveway and highway to remove gasoline, avoiding a fire hazard.

Afton Youth Sentenced in Assault Case

Ohio's mobile crime laboratory will roll into Batavia Clermont County on Friday March 19 from 1 to 5 p m. The unit costing about 15000 dollars and built by Buckeye State Sheriffs Association with Ohio Lodges will be on public display and demonstrated to local law enforcement agencies. It is described as artillery in the state's crime detection program and is the third such unit in the country with New York and Illinois the other states having similar setups.
