An auto crash on the A F highway near Clermontville sent NEW RICHMOND chief of police, a 24 year old man, and another occupant to a Cincinnati hospital. Fred Holt and Miss Wagner were uninjured. Police said the speeding car flipped four to five times after hitting highway backwater.

War bond sales for the week of March 1 to March 8 in Clermont County totalled 32831.25 dollars, reported to Earl B Kincaid chairman of the county war bond committees. Tech Sergeant Roscoe Tyler Jr. of Pueblo Colorado arrives home for a week long visit with his parents in Olive Branch and friends. He left for Army Schools in the West a year ago this week and now has about 500 flight hours as an aerial engineer on B 17 Flying Fortresses before returning to Pueblo.
Batavia Couple Celebrates 55th Wedding Anniversary
Batavia residents Mr and Mrs Charles Slade observe their 55th wedding anniversary on April 1. Married Easter Sunday 1888 at Amelia, they have five children Clarence Batavia Elton Dayton Harry Dayton George Hamilton and Mrs Alice Fishback Columbus. Mr Slade served with Bell Telephone in Cincinnati over 24 years and managed the Bell system in Clermont County since 1901.

Butter and fats sales freeze ordered as rationing nears
Washington reports that all sales of butter margarine edible fats and oils will be frozen from midnight March 21 to curb panic buying before March 29 point rationing begins. Meats cheese and fish are exempt from the March 21 order though included in the March 29 program. Restaurants remain allowed to buy as stocks are insufficient to meet demand. Prentiss M Brown predicts rationing will curb hoarding and urges housewives to avoid stockpiling. Dealers will register April 1 through 10 to inventory fruits and juices under Form R1302.
