Batavia High Musicians Earn Superior Rating At Festival

Batavia public schools music department led by Miss Gladys Lewis earned a Superior rating at the Southwestern Ohio District Music Festival at Miami University Oxford. The 38 member band impressed judges William D. Schaefer Ray D. Metcalf and M. C. McEwen with Queen City Student Prince and Americana Overture. Soprano Virginia Kain and trombonist Howard Lewis also received Superior honors. clarinetist Jean Wiener and violinist Priscilla Harrison earned Excellent ratings. The group and soloists advance to the Ohio State Music Festival in Columbus on May 25 under Miss Lewis with Mrs. Freda Patchel as accompanist.
