Ohio Nine year Slogan Essay Contest awards No 1 plate

The ninth renewal of Ohio Traffic Safety Slogan Essay Contest awards license plate No 1 to the adult winner and offers $500 in cash prizes plus transistor radios. Great Egg Game Promises $500 in Milford Merchants Rewards

The Milford Area Chamber of Commerce and local merchants launch the Great Egg Game offering $500 in gift certificates. A tabloid with a game card will reach 22 000 homes next week inviting shoppers to visit participating stores for prizes including a $100 first prize, two $50 prizes and fifteen $20 prizes. Winners are to be announced at noon on April 4 in the Chamber office.

School For Retarded Contracts Approved

Construction of a 1.7 million dollar project begins soon funded mainly by a 1.025 million bond. The facility on Benton Road near US 50 west of Owensville will serve as a ground floor operation in the County Service Center north of Batavia on SR 222. Wayne campers won the bid for school buses. A 24 cent per $1000 property tax levy renewal will appear on the November ballot as the school operating levy.

Four Lane Upgrade Planned for State Route 28

Miami Township officials met with State Highway Division deputy director to discuss converting State Route 28 into a four lane undivided highway from US 50 to Branch Hill Guinea Pike. The project costs exceed 3.1 million with a 90 to 100 foot right of way, and completion of I-275 from Route 28 to Round Bottom is targeted for spring 1973.

Club Plans Historical Museum in Bethel Grant Building

The Bethel Senior Women's Club announces plans to establish a historical museum in the Grant Memorial Building. Support comes from Mayor O H Sharp, the Village Council, the Grant Memorial Committee, and the Bethel Tate Area Chamber of Commerce. The club founded in 1910 once ran a public library and seeks to display local history in the redecorated former library room now custodied by Councilman Oscar Gullett.

Bethel Tate area celebrate heritage and local history

Batavia post office custodian Elbert C. Carter observed his 85th birthday on March 16 with gifts from colleagues. The community plans a Grant Sesquicentennial museum project funded by the Bethel Tate Area Chamber of Commerce. Historians seek photographs and documents from residents for display and preservation.

Highest Bidder Named On Hospital Bonds

Clermont County Commissioners announced preliminary plans by Howard Real Estate Inc for 57 exclusive homes priced 40 000 to 50 000 on one acre Dry Run road lots. Realtors sought water and sewer details while Miamiville Civic Association prompted Circle Freeway resurfacing. Road works include Ward's Corner to Guinea Pike and Branch Hill.

Batavia Considers Water Rate Increase First Reading

The Batavia council held the first reading of an ordinance raising water rates from $3.40 to $3.75 per month effective June 15 for all users except owners of multiple dwellings. Multi unit owners face a minimum of $7.50, based on meter size or premises units, with August billing. Each user will be notified ahead of the August billing date of the new minimum rate.

Batavia Junior Woman's Club announces four collection barrels in service stations from March 26 to May 15 to collect 71 plates for scrap metal recycling. Project chair Jean Taylor says funds will be donated to Shriner facilities, benefiting hospital needs.
