Clermont County Chamber Meets to Review 1972 Budget and Bylaws

The Clermont County Chamber of Commerce holds its first 1972 quarterly meeting at 8 p.m. in the Clermont National Bank auditorium Milford. The program includes the 1972 Work Plan and budget, proposed bylaw changes, and a member vote. Timothy A. Hickey, a private attorney, will discuss drug abuse issues and has spoken at Milford Middle School.

New Clermont County Director Appointed from Indiana

Bobby H Kirks 39 a consulting engineer from Indiana was named executive planning director by the Clermont County Planning Commission on Monday. He replaces Harry Reed Jr who resigned. Kirks earned a civil engineering degree from Tri State College Angola Indiana and studied traffic design at Purdue. He has worked in site planning traffic engineering and zoning roles including Terre Haute Indiana and Longardner Racek Inc. He is married with two children and will move with his family to Clermont County after the school year ends.

Batavia jail and juvenile facility plan advancement

A proposed Batavia jail and juvenile wing would cost about 2.08 million with 21 percent federal grant support and 14 810 in kind county services. The plan calls adjoining the existing jail at Third and Main, adding a 12‑bed emergency care unit and staff apartment, funded largely by federal money with state and local share.

Stabbing Trial Underway in Laurel Case

A jury of 12 including eight women and four men hears the Laurel stabbing case before Judge Louis J. Schwartz. State prosecutors Melvin Reifin and Stephen Boller present Dennis Liggett as Wynn's principal attorney. Virginia Hazelbaker testified as a key eyewitness that Wynn stabbed Morgan, while defense witnesses asserted Wynn was not near Morgan during the party fight.

Senior Citizens Community Planned in Amelia Ohio

The project aims to build the largest rural rental housing complex for seniors in the United States near Amelia on Cecelia Drive. It will include 58 apartments across seven buildings with ground level access, a community building, pond, and park, owned by Amanda Acres Inc. and led by Robert Groh. Ground breaking awaits three conditions: a 35 member sponsorship increase, 100 annual dues paid members for September 1972 move in, and $2,000 in tax exempt contributions to Churchmen Concerned Inc.
