A mad dog that wandered from Edenton stoked fear in Belfast ten days ago. It bit several animals and was killed. In the following week about six dogs, three cows and three mules involved in bites were shot to contain the spread.

Mrs Laura Evans Holliday died at her Cairo home last week aged about 62. She was the daughter of Mrs Evans and the former wife of Judge C T Fishback of this place. The judge died in 1865 and she moved with her children Laura and Charles Evans to Cairo where she remarried. Funeral held in Cairo with distant children and many friends attending.

Accident at the station injures Mrs Budd on railway crossing
Mrs Budd riding in a huckster wagon tried to cross the railroad at the station when a freight train stood there. Her horse rearing panicked the wagon, throwing all occupants down the bank and injuring the woman while two children escaped unharmed. She was cared for at the Duckwall home until relatives arrived from Mt Crab. Citizens aided at the scene and warned that the bank crossing remains dangerous.

Funeral for Frederick Sweet Held at United Brothers Church
Frederick Sweet died on the %ih instant at 18. Funeral services were conducted in English by Rev Hezekiah Hill before a large congregation at the United Brothers church.
