Mobile X Ray Unit Photos From Clermont County Visit

The State Department of Health mobile X Ray unit took 4785 chest pictures in Clermont County schools. Locations recorded include Goshen 521 Milford 888 Owensville 354 Williamsburg 278 Batavia 395 Amelia 655 New Richmond 528 Felicity 360 Bethel 816. About 120 Bethel X Rays came from Williamsburg due to a closed Williamsburg school during the visit. Owensville student Carol Francis 13 will compete in WCPO spelling bee on March 24. she placed second last year.

Back Taxes Dip Throughout Ohio

Ohio delinquent taxes fell to the lowest level in over 25 years across 88 counties. Clermont County reports $119,966.38 in delinquent real estate taxes and $41,190.88 in delinquent personal taxes. State Auditor Rhodes noted a total write off of $3,275,533 as the tax backlog shrank last year.

Tax take at Ohio courthouses tops 546 million dollars

The total personal property tax collected at Ohio’s 88 courthouses last year reached 546,704,453.80 dollars, surpassing 1954 by about 44 million. Clermont County split its receipts into tangible 140,567 and intangible 80,919 dollars. Deputy Sheriff Charles McNutt is on a two week Florida vacation at Ft. Myers and will rejoin his wife after. Guy Leming collapsed Sunday at Fritz’s restaurant in Perintown and was transported to Cincinnati General Hospital in unstable condition.

Clermont County Independent Baseball League Holds Opening Meeting

The Clermont County Independent Baseball League met at Batavia courthouse Friday evening with about 30 members from six teams. Officers were reelected, and Fred Hoht was named vice president. Six teams entered for the year: Batavia Owensville Mt. Carmel Amelia Bethel and Loveland. Anstaett aims for eight teams and solicits two more. Williamsburg and Felicity may enter first.

Clermont County Receives Relief Funds Share

Clermont County was allotted 68791.68 from a state pool totalling 15891641.25 for poor relief funds sourced from 1955 excise taxes on public utilities. Remaining funds 14504688.40 go to the state general revenue. neighboring counties receive varied shares.

The Clermont County Bankers Association met at the D X Ranch on March 15 and elected H H Harris of Loveland president John Walton of Milford vice president and Herbert Jeffries of Amelia secretary Vernon Curran of the First National Bank of Cincinnati was guest speaker delivering a talk on public relations.

Revenue service seizes 12 acres in Miami Township

Robert J. Maurer of the IRS announced seizure of 12 acres in Miami township owned by Allison Bishopric Jr of Greenwich Connecticut. The revenue department says Bishopric owes the government 83 435 in income taxes. Glen Holman of Holman Buick Batavia underwent emergency surgery at Christ Hospital Monday night and is reported in favorable condition.

Civic Club Hears Reports on Phones Zoning and Roads

Locust Corner Pierce Township Civic Club met at the township hall on March 19. The telephone committee will meet with phone officials next month. The zoning committee presented a map and rough sketch of specifications. No hunting and trespassing signs are available at Mrs Erma Knause's. Discussion covered road work and possible solutions for township county and state roads in Clermont. A letter to county commissioners about funds from the 50 billion bill was drafted. All candidates seeking nomination were invited to attend the next meeting on April 16 at 7 30 p m.

Voters OK $158,000 School Bond Issue in Goshen

In a special election on Tuesday March 13 voters in the local school district approved a 158000 bond issue. Superintendent L G Hause said funds will add classrooms to the new elementary building depending on state grant amounts and a new music room will be added to the high school.

Talent Wanted for Show by VFW Post 5656 at Hamlet

Bachelier Coslett VFW Post 5656 Amelia seeks talented students for a Friday show on April 20. WLW TV’s Buddy Ross Bonnie Lou and Rockin’ Rudy Hansen will perform. An audition is set for 2 pm April 1 at the BMOP fire house Hamlet. Prizes awarded to all, with special prizes in three age groups.

Court halts Clermont County school district merger attempt

Judge John H. Houston barred the Clermont County Board of Education from organizing the Williamsville Tabasco Mt. Carmel Glen Este and Amelia consolidation. Harold Nichols of Batavia led opponents in a suit claiming the ballot issue was improperly placed at a special meeting. The board plans an appeal while rumors of further mergers are denied.

Batavia Protests Upheaval in Mail Route Plans

Batavia officials and Rotary Club members urged improvements to attract young residents and business, proposing an architect for a new Batavia business district and a village beautification program. They also opposed changing rural mail routes to Cincinnati 30, urging post office expansion and a permanent postmaster, while a Civic Association meeting will address the issue with district Post Office Manager N. C. Steiger.
