Owensville Farmer Dies After Automobile Crash
Luther Peel a 31 year old farmer from near Owensville died early Sunday from brain injuries after a head on collision Saturday night on the Wooster Pike near the Newtown bridge. Levy Smith 32 suffered multiple fractures while Frank Beckman driver of the other vehicle sustained head and body lacerations. Peel’s funeral arrangements were set with the Wm Stirling Moore Funeral Home and he leaves a widow Hattie and two young children.

Anniversary Supper and Grange Meeting at Batavia
Batavia Grange held an anniversary supper on Thursday March 16 with about 150 members and friends at the U B Church basement. A lecture hour featured Master E L Smith Betty Marie Shamp a duet by Mrs Walter Bauer and Mrs Audrey Miller and a playlet Don't Mention Pigs. The Amelia High School Boys quartet under J A Justin performed. A business session followed and membership gains were reported: 28 new members 2 reinstatements and 1 demit. A joint initation is planned March 23 at Owensville with Mt Carmel Grange.

Former Batavian Mrs. Eric Lyders Birdie Perkins died last month in a San Francisco hospital. She was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Perkins of Batavia and Washington D C, and is survived by her husband and two daughters Margaret and Francis of Burlingame California. Birdie Perkins enjoyed notable scholastic achievements at Vassar College and in Germany. Her daughters are likewise praised for their scholarly pursuits.

Farmers businessmen and townspeople in the Owensville area formed the Clermont Brown U S 50 Improvement Association at Mull s Hall Monday night about 200 people attended the meeting and elected officers led by President Joe Evans and Secretary George . The group aims to pressure state and federal highway officials to improve the dangerous stretch of Route 50 through Brown and Clermont counties with emphasis on the Owensville segment.
