Clermont County Drug Enforcement Grant Approved

Governor Rhodes announced a 21111 grant to Clermont County for a drug enforcement program run by the Clermont County Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs Association. The project funds two full time agents for investigations covert buys and intelligence data to aid local law enforcement, with a 1111 local supplement, under Ohio's 1977 Comprehensive Criminal Justice Plan.

Finan to Speak at Clermont County Republican Club Meeting

Open House at Bethel U S Grant Vocational School

Bethel The U S Grant Joint Vocational School invites parents and students to an open house on Thursday March 29. The Career Center will be open 7 to 9 p m with visitors free to arrive or depart. Instructors will answer questions and show facilities while student guides direct guests to programs. The general public is welcome.

Mussey successor eyed by GOP for state senate seat

Clermont County Commissioner Harold Bissantz tops a list of at least five hopefuls for the March 31 vacancy created by State Sen. William H. Mussey's resignation to become deputy director of the Industrial Commission of Ohio. The 14th District covers Warren Pike Scioto Adams Brown and parts of several counties. Other contenders include Leo Blackburn William Fawley James Murray and Robert Jones with Russell Simmons declining to be considered.

Clermont considers half percent sales tax for jail

At Goshen High School 30 residents attended the first of two hearings on a proposed 0.5 percent sales tax to fund a new county jail facility. If approved the tax would raise 0.6 to 1.0 million dollars annually for capital improvements and would raise Clermont’s total sales tax to 4.5 percent. The referendum would appear before voters. Sheriff Van Camp and Juvenile Judge Collier urged support, citing jail inadequacy since 1930 and the need to house felons and operate juvenile court.

Commissioners reject tax abatement plan for now

Clermont County commissioners did not act on a pro tax abatement plan and urged clearer guidelines. Commissioner Robert Croswell pressed for concrete criteria, noting past abatements and upcoming plant closures. The policy aims to spur housing, preserve history, and lure new development while ensuring 200 percent tax guarantees and local services.

Controversial tank bid approved for two water tanks

Clermont Commissioners awarded Aqua Tanks of Newnam, Georgia a low bid of 848 450 for two elevated storage tanks to be placed in Miami and Batavia Townships. Site work went to Glenn Rhodes Construction for 225 740. Total project approaching 1 8 million in county waterworks.
