Bethel Native Sgt Ernest Wilson Bethel Mourns Vietnam Death
Bethel MKentuckian Sgt Ernest Wilson 20 died in Vietnam while serving with Co D 52nd Infantry Bn 198th Infantry Brigade near Chuloi. He trained at Fort Riley and spent 11 months in Germany before Vietnam deployment. He had been in service since April 20 1966 and recently home on leave. Funeral at Buckhorn Kentucky with parents siblings and grandparents listed.

Teachers Receive Summer Workshop Grant in Batavia
Batavia reports the County Board of Education received a Title 6 grant to run a one week July workshop for emotionally handicapped children. About 25 area teachers will be chosen to participate with university credit, tuition and travel paid.

Services Held For R E Wagner Vietnam Soldier
Services for E 4 Richard E Wagner 22 who was killed February 12 in Vietnam were held at First Baptist Church Felicity with graveside rites at Point Isabel Cemetery. Hayden Funeral Home arranged. He entered service July 1965 trained at Fort Knox Fort Benning and Fort Gordon. He went overseas May 29 1967 and served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and later the 173rd. He is survived by parents Mr and Mrs Owen W Wagner a sister Mrs Earl Carnahan and two brothers Paul and Howard Wagner all of Point Isabel.

The Rotary Club of Williamsburg agrees to underwrite 38000 dollars of a 50000 dollar clinic project to serve Williamsburg residents lacking a physician. The Sears Roebuck Foundation backs the effort with technical advice and help finding two staff doctors if the town raises 12000 dollars. A public meeting showed strong local support with 294 of 303 attendees backing the plan.

Batavia Academic Team Wins It’s Academic Victory
Batavia High School team scored 320 points Sunday March 17 to win a regular competition on the It’s Academic program and qualify for a playoff. Batavia defeated St Henry High School and North College Hill High School to win a 20 volume Merit Students Encyclopedia for the school library. St Henry and North College High School received five volume sets of the Macmillan Sky and Telescope Library Astronomy. Each team member received a personalized briefcase.

Batavia plans a 30000 sewer extension along Clark Ely Streets and Glen Avenue funded by a 30 percent village share with 25 percent from Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone and 50 percent from area property owners on a front foot basis. Construction could start May 1 with bids due April 5 and contract awarded April 8.

Union Township Launches Drive On Junk Autos
Union Township trustees launch a campaign to clear the township of junk cars. Violators get 20 days to fix the issue or face action in Clermont County Court. Nineteen people have been warned. several cars removed or cited to court. Durbin Clepper and True pledge to continue the drive until eliminated. Bids on a road grader ranged from 15000 to 20000, with a police cruiser replacement planned. A new salt bin at 4312 Glen Este Williamsville Road is now completed.
