Auto crash claims local soldier in Vietnam action

A Clermont County soldier was killed in an auto accident near his base in Vietnam, another from the area was wounded by shrapnel on February 18 at Phu Lam. Parents Mr and Mrs Huln Amber of Amber were notified of their son Pfc Daryl Amber, 18. The report notes a separate incident involving another local serviceman.

Whitt Named To Head County Health Board

The county health board appointed committees for the new year including Roll Minnick and Dr R Kirby Lancaster. Three physicians applied for part time health commissioner and three for full time. The board set a 1969 budget of 102378 with 16000 for a health commissioner and 57000 for other staff. The chairman said the board exists for all people and will not become welfare agents. Wright pledged to gather facts to aid decision making.

Roger Backhus former chairman and present member of the health board will address the Clermont County Trustees and Clerks Association at 8 p.m. March 21 in the Court House Annex Batavia. New Richmond Wins Third Safety Flag in February

Clermont County Safety Council awards February Safety Flag to New Richmond High for zero traffic violations, marking a second consecutive month and fourth award in four months. Felicity and Loveland also posted perfect drives, while Batavia ranked last after a February fatality. Council met March 5 at New Richmond High with Edward B Osborne as speaker.

Nixon to Address Ohio GOP Women Conference in Cincinnati

Richard M. Nixon will speak at the 28th annual Spring Conference of the Ohio Federation of Republican Women's Organizations in Cincinnati, with Gov. James A. Rhodes introducing him at the noon luncheon. Attorney General William Saxbe also speaks. Dean Clarence Manion headlines the evening banquet. Batavia Council Eyes Clark St. Sewer Project

Batavia considers a Clark Street sewer plan costing 24150 with 25 percent funded by the village, 25 percent by Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Co, and the rest via assessments. The council extended its session to discuss the proposal and debated shares for the Batavia Life Squad.

Goshen Teacher Attends Area Language Arts Workshop

Carrie Glancy, Reading and Special Education Coordinator for Goshen Schools, attended an area Language Arts Workshop in Cincinnati. The event hosted by Educational Development Laboratories drew about 85 educators from Southwestern Ohio with Dr. William E. Hoth of Wayne State University as keynote.
