Contract Awarded For Pierce Building

Locust Corner township trustees award construction of a new building to Light Construction Co. of Cherry Grove and Nelson-Smith Co. of New Richmond for 89 779 dollars. Nine bids ranged to 114 300 dollars with Henry Cappin Co. of Cincinnati next lowest at 100 000. The low bid won despite one vote against by Mrs. Harley Nord. The structure will house a three bay firehouse training room trustees room kitchen and offices for the township constable and fire chief.

Harsha to Inspect Flood Damage on Ohio Rivers

Sixth District Rep. William H. Harsha will inspect the Ohio River and its tributaries Friday to assess federal disaster aid needs. Harsha last week urged Gov. Rhodes and President Johnson to declare flooded areas in his district a disaster area.

Survey Will Help Update National Census Figures

A scientifically selected sample of local households will participate in the nationwide Current Population Survey the week of March 16 to update national statistics on population characteristics. Local data will be collected by Janis Robinson of Bethel, with questions on family composition marriage date migration income and standard employment queries.

Batavia voters approve 16 of 21 000 lumen mercury lights to illuminate Main St from Clermont Pay and Save to Holman Motors.
