Recorder Fees Rise As February 1971 Totals Revealed

County Recorder William Shebesta reports February 1971 fees of 2833 with 259 deeds 165 mortgages ($8,059,094) and 218 financing statements. February 1970 counted 238 deeds 134 mortgages ($1,957,862) and 275 top lenders included Provident Bank and Franklin Savings and Loan among others.

Monroe Township appoints new zoning commission board

David Luck, chairman, announced the Monroe Township Trustees have named a new zoning commission. Ronald Scharringhausen is chairman with June Hughes as vice chair, Joan Brown as secretary, and Walter Weber and Emil Hensley as members. Other trustees are Arthur and John Ed White.

Mussey and Mayfield back consumer protection bill

State Representative William Mussey and Consumer Study Committee Chair Frank Mayfield Jr back a bill from an eight month study on consumer problems. The measure targets credit traps by outlawing holder in due course, referral selling, self-help repossession, unequal deficiency judgments, and inflated balloon payments while limiting security interests and restricting contract acceleration.

Health Board Taking Over Chest Clinic

Clermont County Board of Health will assume supervision of the Chest Clinic under a contract with the County Commissioners. The county will continue financing tuberculosis control via X rays. Dr. Donald Ebersold becomes president, replacing Elmo Durbin who becomes vice president. Budget request for 1972 is 133,498, up from 124,000 in 1971. State support for vision and hearing programs declines from 10,000 to 12,000. Township and village funds provide most health department support.
