Bass Anglers Society forms local Bassmaster chapter

The Tri-State Bassmaster's Club invites area fishermen to join the new BASS chapter at the Bachelor's Club Roselawn on March 15. President John Northlich and officers lead a 35 member group planning lure swap events casting demos and tournaments to promote fishing and pollution reduction.

Gift For Maynard House Doll Carriage Donated

The Clermont County Historical Society received a wooden doll carriage circa 1864 from Ralph W. Houser of Bethel, once owned by Eunice Wile Houser and linked to the Wise family near Moscow. The gift will go to Maynard House museum. The Frank Weaver Post American Legion postponed its father and son banquet, planned for March 14.

Meeting to define park property lines in Batavia

A 10 a.m. Friday March 26 meeting in Batavia aims to clarify property taken for East Fork Reservoir and State Park. Attendees include U S Army Corps Louisville District and Ohio DNR officials to answer questions on property lines. County bids for a line marking machine a truck chassis and an extension mower close at 10 a.m. March 26.

Taft Urges Retaining Appalachian Program At Lincoln Day

Senator Robert Taft Jr spoke to over 200 officials and party members Friday at the Legion Hall Mt Carmel in a Lincoln Day address. He backed President Nixon’s revenue sharing plan citing rural development for all states and warned against eliminating Appalachian programs in favor of broader rural funding.

Humane Society to canvass Clermont County dog licenses

The Clermont County Humane Society and County Auditor's Office will canvass all residences to register dogs and sell licenses. Unlicensed owners face impoundment and fines. licenses fund the county animal shelter. Mrs. Ronald Jones urges license purchases to ease crowded shelters and high euthanasia. Licenses cost $3 per day.

Town clears air on second bridge

Milford officials reaffirm support for a four lane second bridge over the Little Miami River, urging Clermont and Hamilton county commissioners to proceed with the project as planned to relieve heavy traffic bottlenecks. Milford Clerk Ruth E Brower signed the letter stating no abandonment of Issue No 1 funds.

Lions advance in Class AA tourney with 55 46 win

The Lions beat the North College Hill Trojans 55 46 in the first round as Ralph Hardin scored 20 followed by Mark Hudson 19 Greg Higgins 14 and Dave Day 2. Milford won the Class AAA sectional 56 52 over Roger Bacon and Amelia beat Madeira 54 47 in Class AA. Bethel Tate remains in Class A.
