Hospital Surgical Plan Available to Teachers

A county wide surgical care plan from Ohio Medical Indemnity is offered to Clermont County teachers with Blue Cross Hospital Care. At a county board meeting in Batavia a descriptive letter folder and application card will be sent to all teachers. Enrollment requires 50 percent of Blue Cross members, with April 1 as the drive end and March 17 as the information deadline.

International Cage Tourney Opens in Fayetteville

An International basketball tournament will be staged in the Fayetteville gymnasium March 18 to 1. On the opening night Peebles meets Wilmington Waynesville plays Blanchester and Sardinia faces Fayetteville with games starting at 7 30 P M.

D-DAY FOR RATS SET MARCH 26 IN CLERMONT COUNTY

Residents are asked to set out poison bait for rats on March 26. Prebait foods like ground meat fish and vegetables for several days to identify preferences. Place bait behind a box so rats have cover while feeding and use Red squill and Antu poisons as directed. Memorial Church of New Richmond held a ceremony burning a $5,000 mortgage tied to a parish house. Rev. Curtis M. Glick presided.

A Library Dinner Dance is set for Friday April 2 at the Wilhiamsville Tasasco school. Dinners with ham and fish will run 5 30 to 8 pm followed by a dance. A prize will be given for the largest family in attendance. Music will be by Bob Le Monn’s orchestra.

Hattie Carpenter Recurring Hospitalization After Second Fall

Miss Hattie Carpenter of Batavia returned home from Christ Hospital then was readmitted after a second fall yesterday. She suffered a broken shoulder and had been bedridden since the first fall in January before neighbor Mrs. L. W. Male found her unable to help herself.

Palestine Man Takes Own Life

Carl Van Camp, 44, near Palestine, shot himself with a 16 gauge shotgun Monday. His body was found behind the family chicken house by his sons Richard and Billy after school. He is survived by his widow Sarah and five children. Police Chief Fred Holt and Sheriff Clyde Dericks were notified. body taken to Lew F. White Memorial Funeral Home. In other news, Mt. Anniversary of Grange Celebrated at Batavia BE UB Church

Nearly 100 members and guests gathered at the BE U B Church to mark the Batavia Grange founding. Mrs Addie Hulick directed a post dinner program, with 14 charter members reported as present. Membership stands at 181 and the next meeting is set for March 18.

The Clermont County Court House was crowded Wednesday as Ruth Leggett and her husband Carl faced trial over allegations they beat a six year old boy, son from a former marriage. The boy had bruises noted at Bethel school prompting an investigation and subsequent indictment.

The Amelia school auditorium hosts a March 18 performance of Every reation rooms body's Crazy Now a home talent play for the Holly Christian Church. Cat Bites Children as Rabies Case Ties Chile Area

A cat that bit children in the Chile community tested positive for rabies after the animal was killed and sent to Columbus. Ben Gresham and deputy Tita Flora attempted to capture the cat. both children and adults bitten received rabies treatment. Aged Man Morris Scott Found Dead Near Williamsville

Morris Scott, 12, was found dead near his home in Williamsville last Thursday by 8 J Hall, apparently from natural causes. Sheriff Clyde Dericks investigated after neighbors noted recent illness. The body was taken to T P White Funeral Home in Mt. Washington.

To Celebrate Anniversary March 21

Mr and Mrs Frank Dimmitt of Newtonsville celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 21 1948. They were wed March 20 1898 at the bride’s parents home in Marathon Ohio with Rev Walter S Gray officiating. Milford Man Fatally Injured in Fairfax

Milwaukee area report states a Milford resident died from injuries after a collision in Fairfax. The deceased was Mr. O Connor who lived with his brother Albert at 313 Cash Street and worked at Johnson Pharmacy. Services were held Tuesday at St Andrew Catholic Church with Craver Funeral Home handling arrangements. He also leaves an uncle James Hurley and two sisters Mrs Katherine Kelm and Mrs Mamie O Brien.

Grangers Given Driving Quiz at Locust Corner Grange

Locust Corner Grange No 2408 met on a Wednesday evening March 3 with Paul Berry of the State Highway Department posing driving questions. Only two were answered correctly. The lunch committee includes Arch Knause Paul McArthur and Jas Nobis. Two plays and other entertainment are planned for the near future with dates to be announced.

War record requested for county veterans project

Clermont County Veterans Council seeks wartime service information from local veterans for an upcoming publication. An official form appeared in last week's Courier and is available at service organization headquarters. Irwin Kain of Batavia leads the project, and a book purchase is not required to include a veteran’s record. The closing date for copy has not been set.

Romance Ends In Cincinnati Mailbox Incident

Lawrence P. Curlis of Cincinnati and Mrs. Louise Mayhall of Glen Este began a short romance that ended after Curlis collided with a mailbox, prompting local talk and questions about the affair’s abrupt end.
