First Drag Race Case Probed Under New Law
Batavia man becomes first punished under the new drag racing law. Lawrence H. Wyebold, 20, Glen Este Road, was fined 500 dollars and jailed six months, with suspension on no further traffic convictions for a year. The case followed a trial after a not guilty plea and jury waiver refusal.

The Rev. M. E. Clay, former pastor of Felicity Church of the Nazarene, will lead the new Southwestern Ohio district effective April 1. The 12 county district includes Clermont and churches at Amelia Batavia Bethesda Felicity Loveland Milford New Richmond Newtonsville and Williamsburg. Clay returns from Hutchinson Kansas where he pastored three years and is one of five Clay brothers in Nazarene ministry. He trained at Olivet Nazarene College and began in Felicity in 1935.

Art Exhibition Thursday Still Open For Entries
Batavia Woman's Club announces a varied art exhibit at First Methodist Church Batavia from 7 30 to 9 30 p m on Thursday March 17. Entries are due between 1 30 and 5 30 p m Thursday at the church. The show has no entrance fee and features weaving on a hand loom violin making paintings drawings and sculpture by local creators.

Union Township to launch countywide fire and life squad radio alert system
Union Township will become the first in the county and state to operate a combined fire department and life squad radio alert system. The open house at Williamsville Fire Depot unveils a FCC licensed system linking Withamsville and North Union Township units. The code based alert reaches volunteers within five seconds, with dispatching handled by two full time operators and Plymouth or Swift numbers for contact. Miami Radio and TV installed the system, with expansion plans to add more departments. Cliff Scharges leads the alert committee alongside North Union and Withamsville volunteers.

Court orders correction of sewage discharge into Elm Drive ditch

Possible Surgery Indicated After Tot Struck By Auto
Deborah Long six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Long of Afton lies on the critical list at Children's Hospital after being struck by a car driven by Geneva Newell of Afton. X rays show an abdominal blood clot and surgery may be required. She had leg abrasions and shock. The driver was treated. Deborah's father is assistant principal at Amelia junior high school.

Two Liquor Permit Holders Guilty in Ohio Board Action
Two area liquor permit holders were found guilty of liquor law violations by the Ohio Board of Liquor Control. Robert A. Roulston, owner of Jackson's Lake Tavern in Glen Este, was found guilty of permitting gaming and wagering on October 14, 1959. Amelia Mae and Hershal Neeley of Newtown Dairy Bar were found guilty of selling intoxicants to a minor on September 25, 1959, with prior conviction in Newtown mayor's court.

Council Votes To Correct Sewage Odor Problem
NEW RICHMOND At a meeting last week the council voted to end sewage odors from the plant and approved buying a new police cruiser. An ordinance of necessity to run a discharge line to the Ohio River was passed. cost estimate is 19 300 financed by bonds repaid from the general fund at 175 per month. New Richmond Auto Sales won the low bid for the cruiser.
