George Ambermiller chairman of the Clermont County Chapter says the annual Red Cross drive is bogging down due to lack of local support and competition from other fund drives. The drive will continue throughout townships this month and county residents are urged to give when Red Cross workers call.
Lawrence A. Paul visits with praise for the Courier and its industry series. Amelia eighth graders Conley Amburgey and Karl Mattox aim for the Cincinnati Post spelling bee airing on WCPO March 18 at 11 30 am. New Richmond Kiwanis Club plans a minstrel show for March 30 31 with members in the cast. A joke notes Lefty, the lion tamer with a drawn arm, as an aside.

A Clermont County grand jury heard 22 cases Tuesday with 16 true bills returned. Indictments include manslaughter for Merrill McKinney in a fatal State Route 125 crash that killed Charles Carnes and Edward Bowen of Bethel, plus charges of non support larceny assault and battery grand larceny and indecent exposure for various defendants. Six cases were ignored.
Coach Kimig Clancy of the Cincinnati Mohawks will speak at the F W Weaver Post American Legion Batavia meeting tonight at 8 30 p m. On March 10 a Legion Gun Club trap shoot is scheduled for 2 o'clock followed by a 6 30 p m pot luck supper celebrating the Legion’s 31st birthday.
The Clermont County Baseball League elected officers Earl Kincaid as president Lloyd Lehrer and Stanley Anstaett as secretary and treasurer Twelve teams attended including Amelia Owensville Williamsburg Daly's Tavern New Richmond Batavia Mt Carmel Goshen Loveland Blue Ash Saltair Mt Crab The league limits to twelve teams and will split the season into a league round robin first half and a three defeats and out elimination second half A second meeting is set for Friday March 24 when teams must post forfeit and prize money.
Marathon Grange resumes its regular schedule on the first and third Fridays each month. The next meeting is Friday, March 17 at 8 p m. The home economics committee aims to raise funds for a donation to the Ohio State Grange Home and asks members to bring extra cash.
Three Tri-State Fireworks Co. workers were burned at 8:30 a m Monday one mile south of Loveland when a mine dropped in the pasting room caused sparks. Injured are Joseph Rozzi, Miss Christine Tucker of Loveland, and Mrs Lulu Green of South Lebanon.
Rev. Ross J. McLennan of Winona Lake Indiana will speak at the E U B Church Batavia this Sunday on Crumbling Foundations. A Taylor University and Garrett Biblical Institute graduate and longtime interdenominational evangelistic worker he serves on the Detroit Conference Methodist Temperance Board. Public invited to attend.
The Ward family of nine newcomers to Clermont County face ongoing poverty with scarce work and limited relief. They need shoes for all children and trousers for the boys, plus food and rent support as they pursue steady work. Donated items may be left at the Clermont Courier office for distribution.
Hon Edward O McCowen three time Republican Congressman from the Sixth District attends the Goshen meeting of the Women and Citizens Republican clubs on Thursday March 9. He says he enjoyed meeting old friends and new Clermont County voters and notes the county has historically given him strong support.
The 1950 Courier subscription contest opened strongly last weekend with late entries from Owensville senior class Boy Scouts and Cozaddale Sun Day School under Mr and Mrs Donald Tigar and Pt Isabel school students. Subscriptions support local groups and profits fund their activities. Final standings remain undisclosed until the April 10 prize distribution.
Five members of the Planning Commission and one Council member submit resignations to Mayor A. G. Aiken and Milford Village Council dated March 10 1950 effective immediately. They cite ordinance repeal and want guidance on handing over minutes and files.
The Amelia PTA sponsors a bake sale at Hartman's Drug Store starting at 10 30 a m on Saturday March 18.
The St. Thomas More Rosary Altar Society hosts a card party and social on Sunday March 19 starting at 2 30 p m. Refreshments and door prizes will be provided by the group.
