Filling Station replaces Batavia hotel at foot of Main
The Griffin Hotel at the foot of Main Street in Batavia is to be dismantled for a new filling station. George Hugo owns the site with a group including Geo Gregg Otto Wilke William Grace and Homer Buerkle forming a company to serve auto traffic. A station will also open at Hamlet with work starting this week and possession in 80 days.

Trucker Cited Before Public Utilities Commission
Floyd Warramount of Mt. Crab was arrested in Batavia Ohio for hauling for the public without a permit. He appeared before Mayor J L Larkin then was ordered to Columbus to face the Public Utilities Commission. He was bound over to the April grand jury and is free on a thousand dollar bond.

Farmers Institute Held Two Sessions at Newtonsville Church

Mrs Mary E Deal 83 Dies at Daughter’s Home
Mrs Mary E Deal aged 83 died at her daughter Mrs H A Rice’s home after a several months illness. Known to many older residents she spent most of her life in the southern part of the county. Funeral service was held at the residence Friday conducted by Revs Burdsell and Stafford with burial at Old Bethel cemetery.

Woman Stabbed in Mt Crab Mystery as Suspect Is Detained

Auto Thieves Arrested by Sheriff and Marshal
Sheriff Croswell and Marshal W. Kranz arrested Clyde Grimes of Columbus and J J Kelley of Ky for auto stealing. Grimes confessed to stealing the car in Columbus. They are in jail and will be held for Columbus officials.

Golden Wedding in Moscow Ohio March 1877 to 1927
The Golden Wedding marks fifty years since Mr. and Mrs. William Fletcher were married by Rev. L L Carpenter of the Moscow Christian church. Trouble on Davis Hill Halts Pike Traffic
Davis Hill between Batavia and Hamlet has been unstable all winter with the culvert wall collapsed leaving a single narrow passage. Pete Ballinger and crew work to keep it open while a night watchman alerts travelers to slips. Large crevices form as the hill slips creating uncertain fallout on heavy rains. Travel is advised to detour via Mt Holy Red Bridge to avoid danger.

Leak Discovered on Spring Street Water Main
Ezra Seyler detected a large leak in the Spring Street water main while digging for a sewer connection last week. Water escaped at a joint and ran toward Fourth Street, affecting consumption and raising rates. The head of Spring Street was the discovery point and the line feeds the sewer system.

Filling Station Expands Service Along Rose's Hill Route
A new modern filling station rises at Rose's Hill in Clermont County with three pumps and a drive-in facility, adding five fueling points between Batavia and Mt. Carmel.
